Protein Is Such A Pain!

Recommended Posts

I can officially state that I am ADDICTED to the nectar Cappuccino!!! I drink, at least two per day!! I got the big (over 2 lb) tub at Vitamin Shoppe. I use 1/2 Water, 1/2 milk, shake it up in a Blender Bottle, and then I pour it over ice to make myself the most delicious iced coffee!!!

And just a note about Vitamin Shoppe. The prices in store are way more than their online prices so make sure that you always ask for the online price when checking out....they simply log in to their website right then and there and will give you that price....but you HAVE to ask for it!!!

I couldn't tolerate any of the sweet Protein flavors for long - I did do a lot of the Syntrax Nectar flavors (the Roadside Lemonade and the lemon tea were tolerable). But I eventually switched to unflavored protein and mixed it with Decaf coffee, a little 1% milk and splenda. That was OK but I'm glad I'm getting all my protein from food now!

Hi everyone!

I tried Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel for the first time today. I had to "doctor it up" I made it with Water, a little crushed ice, just a teaspoon of honey, then used my little bullet-style blender. It whipped up so nice, it tasted just like an Orange Julius. It didn't taste like peach, which I thought it would!??!I see that the Syntrax Nectar Cappucino is tasty, I love coffee, so I think I will try to get that one!!

The sample packet you can get from Syntex has all the flavors for really cheap. It's a really good deal. The places to get samples thread is in the food forum. The Carribean Cooler is good and so is the Chocolarte Truffle. A lot of people really like Twisted cherry too.

I had my surgery feb 8th and im having the same problem with the Protein I can not stomach any of them and I bought so many different ones they all make me sick and I actually vomitted a few times which was not pleasant :( so I am also searching for some type of protein I can handle because right now I'm not even getting close to my protein intake that is needed :(. And I'm also having a rough time getting in my 64oz of Fluid I feel like it still takes me all day to drink a 20oz water bottle. I'm so nervous at this point and do not want to go back in the hospital or screw up my surgery. :(

I'm with you, Indymom. The protein powders were way too sweet to me. I got a 5 pound supply of unflavored and am happily sweetening to my taste. I mix mine with a wand mixer, normally 50 grams plus milk. I make it sort of thick and small in volume so I can get it down through the day without much effort. The rest of my protein comes from egg bites, little meatloaf patties my wife makes up, seafood salad, and whatever.

Rediscover, I looked up the Protein pills. They are ONE gram of Protein per pill. I think I'll eat a mini babybel instead. :)

Kim89, try drinking warm instead of cold drinks. I loved chicken and beef broth on Clear liquids. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
