Buffet Discounts?

Recommended Posts

I have avoided the buffets for this reason. Luckily for me, I don't tend to go out socially to restaurants but had to a couple weeks ago. It was a sushi buffet, I know sushi isn't bad for you, but its a little more high cal then I want, and I wasn't going to pay full price to eat a few pieces. the person I was with does not know I had wls, so couldn't ask for a discount.

I ordered off the menu instead and just got miso Soup with tofu. I also felt very watched as the person I was with ordered a lot of sushi, they must of thought they were ordering to smuggle me some.

Overall I try not to eat as much as possible and if I do go to a place where they won't accommodate I will just sit while everyone eats and have a Protein drink after.

I just don't want to broadcast my surgery to everyone and their mother. I live in a pretty big city - 1 million people - and still, it seems that every week I come across someone who is friends with someone in my social circle. For example, I just recently found out that the 2 guys who own the gym I go to know my fiance's coworker/good friend. I don't want a server at some restaurant who's friends with someone I know to be like, "Oh hey, I saw this chick who had weightloss surgery at our restaurant!" and then the person finds out it's me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
