Countess 5 Posted February 21, 2012 Hi there- i am six weeks poat op frm aleeve and had my gb removed this mornIng. I had been having gallstone attacks for a few years and didn't know what it was. Had a nasty attack last Friday and left work in an ambulence and there you have it. I thought they were supposed to check your gall ladder and remove it if you were having issues( at the same time as wls)?? Anyone have thoughts on this? IowaAndy 95 Posted February 21, 2012 From what I remember reading they do not take you gallbladder as a standard practice. Many on here take medications after surgery to prevent problems with the gallbladder. My doctor did not suggest of put me on any medications. I know that when I did my 8 month liquid diet they told me that there was a chance that you may have to have your gallbladder removed. Only 1 person in my group of about 16 had her removed and everyone else was fine. Guess it depends on each persons makeup. sorry you had this problem but I do know that it can happen

Foxbins 625 Posted February 21, 2012 My gallbladder was removed 10 months after surgery. I had lab tests before surgery that did not show any inflammation, but my surgeon told me that the pathology report showed "chronic inflammation" after it was removed. I can only assume that it started getting inflamed after surgery though I didn't have any symptoms until I got pancreatitis. If you did a pre-op diet, plus the six weeks post-op, that's probably enough time for it to get good and angry. I'm happier with mine gone anyway.
