My "support" Is Gone...

Recommended Posts

...for a week, and right about the same time my tummy seems to be able to have solid foods! Poo!

My Hubby had to leave for some refresher survival exercises and I am alone for the first time since the surgery and my Mom passing away. I have tons to do but I find myself kinda sad - more sad than I should be. I don't normally care if I am alone.

I think this might be the first time I have felt real head hunger.

Stay busy, maybe hang out with friends, go to the movies or shopping. It will get better.

I'm sorry about your mom. I have a hard time battling head hunger too, and it can help to get up and go take a walk, or a nice drive, or do anything that is away from hearth and home where the pantry is. It helps distract my brain from what it thinks it wants. Maybe you can call some friends to schedule a game/movie/spa night? Go on a mad cleaning frenzy? Put on some music and dance? Knit? Just remember that you are not alone in this!

My heart goes out to you along with some prayers. When feeling down , do what you have been doing , give back. YOU help so many of us on here. In times of struggle to endure it is always helpful to give what you are needing. Do you know what I mean.. That does not mean do not take time for yourself but fill your time knowing your are needed and valued. (Right here with us!!!) :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
