I have not had surgery, and I must admit that I really never get that "full" feeling now. I could always eat more. I am afraid that this will persist even after surgery. What are your thoughts?

My situation is not quite the same but i will tell you hoping it will help some. I was a volume eater but after mountains of food I would get to the point of being overly full & unbottoning my pants. After surgery I had to sip all day long or I would be hungry. Dense Protein solved that. My hunger never went away but very little food gets rid of it. Mini meals work great for me.

Have you researched or asked a professional about never feeling full?

I think I could have won an eating contest, I used to be able to pack so much in. Literally, enough for my entire family of four. It shocking to me that now (3 weeks post op), I struggle to eat 1/2 cup of mushies or 1 cup of cream Soup. And it's more than "full" feeling - it's like "there is not even a smidge left! Don't eat another bite!" feeling. I hope it lasts for the rest of my life.

I used to over eat all the time because I wanted that full feeling. Since the surgery, I am able to eat very little before feeling full. Like 101driver said, it's a different sort of full feeling though. If you eat too much by even 1 bite, the food feels like it's stuck in your esophagus with no way to move down and then you want to throw up. Its taken a long time for me to retrain my habits towards eating so I slow down enough to not overeat and to also learn how much my tiny tummy can tolerate. You'll never be able to gorge on massive meals again, and you'll get full on tiny, tiny amounts of food.

I can defintely relate to this concern. Before surgery, I would eat (A LOT) and I never felt full. In fact, when I ate a lot, it seemed like it would trigger me to eat even more. I rarely ever even felt that "full" feeling at all, even after a big meal (and dessert). Now, I really eat about 1/2 cup of food and I am done. The full feeling lingers, sometimes a little uncomfortably, until I am able to drink some Water or something to make the full feeling pass. I am only 3 months out, but I never actually feel hungry now. I just eat because I know I have to. It is something you might ask your doctor about, but I don't think it is a concern. After surgery, your entire relationship with food changes. If you keep yourslef focused on the end result and the reason you are getting the surgery in the first place, you won't have any problems! I wish you the best of luck. Congratulations on your decision. :-)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
