Frustrated Today-Can't Get Anything Down

Recommended Posts

I'm so frustrated today. I can't get anything down today except liquids. I tried the tiniest bit of soft food and it hurts. Trying a shake now and its sorta okay, but still a little sore. Not sure if this is normal. I know that the amount you can eat and what your stomach likes differs...but I haven't had a day where I just CAN"T get anything down. Any advice besides staying hydrated (which I'm trying to do.)

Oh and yesterday I ate rice for the first time. Not a lot, just a few tiny little bites. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. And I've been super constipated too and took ducolax this morning. Went appliance shopping yesterday and almost passed out in the middle of Lowe's. Not sure what's going on.

Hey y'all:

Hang in there! At this point, just focus on getting in Fluid. I sipped Gatorade many a day to stay hydrated (and I didn't worry about the sugar, as I watered it down and put ice in it). Just do what you need to do to stay hydrated and let your body heal. It really does get better and easier to eat as you go--no need to rush it. Feels like you should be "doing something," but don't push your body. If it hurts to eat, focus on sipping and rest as much as you can. Hugs to both of you!

Sometimes sipping warm drinks is a little easier (tea, broth, etc). I hope you get to feeling better soon! *hugs*

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
