I opened my freezer for the first time post-op today... there was my edamame (oh, how I miss it!) My Mother is Japanese so I have been eating it all my life. I often bring one of the frozen packets to work, leave it on my desk, by the afternoon it is perfectly defrosted and yummy with a pinch of salt :) I can't wait to eat some yummy (healthy foods) again!

how soon can you eat edamame after sleeve surgery? I was sleeved on Aug. 15 2013, and am currently in the mushy food stage.

Oooh. Love the idea of an edamame guacamole!!! I make Soup out of edamame too... they're very versatile' date=' but I like it with coconut milk and lime juice. Here's a link to my version:

Soup Woman, your blog receives look amazing! I am a soup lover and my freezer is always full of homemade stock.

I'm glad to see there are sleevers who eat soup regularly, I read somewhere that soup is not recommended bc its like drinking and eating at same time. I miss my Soups and hope to incorporate it more in my diet.

Please keep posting recipes!

I like the kernels. I used to take a cupful out of the freezer and let them sit for about 10 minutes. I eat them like nuts. However, I am just shy of 1minth out from surgery and am not allowed veggies until I am 3 months out. I have really been craving some veggies.

Dry roasted edamame is the best! Salted and wasabi flavored both! 14 G Protein in a quarter cup! Can't live without! I'm burning out on protein options, but still love dry roasted edamame! Seapoint Farms is the brand.

I've never had it before. Does it taste more bean or nutty?

If they are in the pod still how do you measure them out to track? Might sound like a stupid question...sorry...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
