Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Recommended Posts

I'm back! Judah (my 10 year old son) bought himself a Vault this evening and he is not even close to ready for bed. I wish I had his energy on a regular day--tonight he is bouncing off the walls literally and non-stop yacking! I told him to go play his gamecube so I have some time yet. This has turned into such an enjoyable evening!

Oddly enough, this day has turned out to be great. I've gotten so much love and support from people here that it would be difficult for the bad to overshadow the good that's come out of it. I'm going to bed tired but ok. Being ok is a good thing I think.

Someone's gone a little deloony. C'mon, lets act a little more mature and just put stuff behind us. I dont know the story behind it all and dont really care. I do know that asking it to stop is a lot to ask for but, I didnt come here to watch people scream at each other. If your intent is to scare people away from posting on the LBT then I think you're doing a good job. I'm sure Moderators will agree. Keep it up and people arent going to want to be here. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a newbie... who's not enjoying watching people fight... and is kind of, put off from posting, hey... turns out I do know enough.

Hey CanadaSunshine,

Thanks for taking on this thread for the month. I'm sure it's a lot of work--especially on Wednesdays! I'm sure Susan appreciates the break too.

I find it challenging enough to keep track of my own stats let alone everyone elses. You're doing a great job.

Ah, right, sorry... momentary loss of control there. Not sure what I was talking about... hm.

I like cheese.

Fin.

I love cheese! It's my favorite source of protein! In fact, I just finished a half cup of cottage cheese. I got a fill earlier today (no, my doc does not require 24 hours of liquids, not even mushies) and it has been a struggle to get in enough calories and Protein today.

Yes, I love cheese of any kind! Even the really smelly ones!

You know, Peanut Butter never settled well with me. I had to overpower mine with the jelly to be able to eat it as a kid.

I'm fighting my chocolate craving tonight by eating grapes... not quite the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
