Can Your Tummy Get That Great Feeling Of Restriction Back?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've not feel that feeling of restriction for several months and was worried that I'd somehow stretched my stomach so I stared to eat differently and now I feel like my tummy has that restriction feeling again. I wanted to know if there were others out there that have gone through the same or am I just a retard.

I'm eating much less and don't drink fluids 20 minutes before, nothing when eating (which was not always the case before) and I wait 30 minutes after I eat to drink anything. I feel that restriction feeling more now that I've been holding to the no fluids etc. Is this possible?

OR better yet, could going back on fluids or mushies again to give your stomach a break able to shrink the stomach and gain that restriction again?

The reason you're not supposed to drink fluids is because it can wash the food through your stomach. So the restriction has always been there - you were just side-stepping it before with the liquids.< /p>

I would agree that it was probably drinking with your meals that made you feel like you had no restriction, I don't see a need to go back to liquids. Just watch the drinking before during and immediately after meals, waiting 30 min before and 30 min after. Also it depends on what you are eating, so if you are doing the Protein first during your meal it should also make a difference.

Wow, everybody is so different! Usually I have sips with meals and still have great restriction with veggies and Protein foods. HOWEVER the world is full of delicious slider foods. I basically feel no restriction with Cookies and ice cream etc. So yeah, I have to eat the other stuff instead.

And oddly enough I get a dumping syndrome even tho I'm sleeved. Sugar by itself makes me shakey, nauseous and my pulse high. If I weren't feeling restriction like you state-I'd be nervous. Good luck!

I would think you probably could shrink your tummy a little, but backing off the fluids at mealtime is probably enough.

The stomach has alot of elasticity. But shrinking or stretching it is a long term effort.

I find that the more I eat...the more I can eat. The less I eat..the less I can eat. I don't know if this makes sense or not. I just know that there are times when I seem to be able to eat more and other times I can't. I really havent' figured out why this is. I just know that if I let myself get into the habit of eating more...then I find my stomach will hold more. But when I back off, I find my stomach holds less. I wonder if anyone else feels similarly

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
