Recommended Posts

Hello guys, i'm 2 months post operation, and yet i'm still feeling hungry as hell. Most people i know that had op or people i

met online with op say they don't feel as much hungry after operation. Not to me, i'm feeling even more hungry AFTER the

post op. i just cant help it, i keep imagining all the foods i can eat and even when i finally get to eat i usually eat so fast (cuz

i'm so freakin hungry) that i have massive stomach aches and occasinaly vomit. i know that ur supposed to eat slow after

post op, but that's how hungry i am. is there any food that makes me feel "full? do other ppl feel so hungry too?(so it's not

just me). Please any help will do thank you.

I am about 7 weeks out and have become really hungry over this last 2 weeks. I have read enough on here that in most cases you ned an acid reduction pill as many can not tell the difference between hunger and acid reflux. I already take omeprazole in the pm and occasionally will take one in the am. Yesterday was a hunger day, nothing I ate made me feel full until I had a cup of pop corn.< /p>

I have a sister who is 4 months ahead of me and feels NO hunger at all, but she did say it was several weeks out before she felt that way. That your body has ghrelin stored in your fat cells and as you burn the fat, they resurface. Not sure but many also say if you don't drink enough fluids, same issue, you feel hungry. I hope this passes soon for both of us. Mine is only an occasional day, not everyday. The best of luck to you.

happy had a lot of good reasons why you may be feeling that way. the last is the one that we most often don't like to hear (especially me) but if all physical reasons (acid reflux, not enough Water, etc) have been ruled out, consider that what you are feeling may not be hunger. If the "hunger" feels like it has to be satisfied by a particular food, or if you feel driven to eat really fast, or if you feel really happy after eating it, those are just a few of my signs, others may have others, it may be head hunger and not physical hunger.

Here is an interesting article on the subject.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
