koriswlj 66 Posted February 16, 2012 Sorry if this is TMI.. but what I would give to burp and... ___ . I have been having gas pian since I woke up from the surgery. They had given me different medicine in the hospital for it but if I wasn't falling asleep then the pain really didn't go away. I'm at home and have been taking Gas x strips. But I'm discouraged because due to the pain I can't tell if Im' full from eating. Granted I havent been able to take much in but I dont think Im getting enough. Today is day 4 and i'm at home... so I can try to stick to the regimen in place. If anyone has been through this some encouragement is all I really need right now. circa 333 Posted February 16, 2012 walk walk walk. its what will get rid of the gas. Someone also said having someone rub your back really helps. Good luck!
Paola 62 Posted February 16, 2012 I couldn't drink until my 3rd week post up, and all I could have then were mushies; I was told by my team that the first weeks drinking was more important. Drinking juice, gatorade, Soup broth, and Water. Plus it gives your tummy time to heal better, and avoid leaks.
Ramses 7 Posted February 16, 2012 I had those gas pains for a good 4 or 5 days after surgery I noticed that walking as uncomfortable as it may be helped so much! 1 Liliana Arleen reacted to this
Spatters3 315 Posted February 16, 2012 I was sleeved on Monday. The surgeon also repaired a large hernia and that's actually the only thing that is hurting. I'm telling you, it was a horrendous experience. After the surgery I couldn't even keep Water down - just retching and sliming... just awful. I had to stay for a second night and then the doctor ordered an upper GI (I was wondering how I was going to keep that awful "shake" down). Well, I did, and it showed there were no leaks and no blockage. So guess what it was.... the stomach bug. Of all things to have when going in for this kind of surgery. Oi vey ! I'm home now and I am going to be fine. Oh, and I lost 13 lbs pre-op, but I have no idea what I weigh today. Everyone is absolutely correct - walk !
Doreykn 113 Posted February 16, 2012 Walking is the best thing to get the gas out... (of both ends) Once I started passing the gas, I felt soooo much better! Burping wasn't doing it for me. Good luck & don't hold back on the release of gas, just let it out! 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
