I got a call from my doctor today, and I have low Iron and low Vitamin D. Does anyone else have this problem? I was told to just take multi-Vitamins and Calcium with Vitamin D, and i have been daily. I have not been taking Iron, Vitamin D on its own, or Vitamin B complex. What kind of Vitamins supplements are recommended?

Pretty much everyone has low Vitamin D. Doctors are on this kick that Vitamin D deficiency causes everything from diabetes to cancer...I think they're quacks. Seriously, we don't even get Vitamin D from food anyway, we get it from going outside... in the sunlight... what a novel idea! Anyway... rant over.

As far as the Iron, you can get liquid supplements which tend to be easier on the digestive tract and more effective anyway.

Ummm, I was taking Vitamin D3 before surgery and I still take it after my surgery. I have a hard time with Iron supplements due to issues with Constipation. But I still take them. I take Multivitamins, Vitamin B complex, Biotin 10.000mcg, silica, and vitamin B12. If I forget, then I have really low energy. Oh, and I take Calcium too... ;)

I'm taking a chewable Multi-Vitamin 2 times a day, calcium citrate w/D3 2 times a day, B-12 2 times a week, Iron chewy bite once a day. Dr said @ 6months they will lower the multi-vitamin. Just depends on blood work.

I developed thiamine deficiency postop and I suspect also an Iron one--I realized last month that none of my Vitamins had iron, and I was experiencing some shortness of breath and funky feeling. I put myself on an iron supplement, and my symptoms resolved. So now, I take a Gummy Multivitamin, gummy Vitamin C, chewable calcium/vitamin D, iron pill, and super B complex liquigel. And I feel fantastic, so I'm going to keep taking them. :-)

they put me on Iron last week (and yes I'm a guy) and I had a Vitamin K def. Fixed the vitamin K issue cause I was taking the WRONG kind of vitamin k. I needed to take K1 and I had been taking K2. No one in my program office had explained the difference. I'm sure def will come and go though. This was my first vitamin test and to only be low on one vitamin in my book wasn't all that bad in my eyes.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
