Any May Sleevers Yet?

My doc leaves the drain in for 2 weeks. He wants to be absolute sure there are 0 leaks and likes to monitor his patients closely. He actually makes his patients drink 2 oz. of "Blue powerade" every hour (that way if there were a leak, the blue liquid would travel into the drain and we would go immediately to hospital. Basically blue is the only color our body doesn't "excrete" so it helps keep an eye on our insides while healing) At the 2 week point the drain will be removed and then he moves us into the pureed stage. Will be on liquids until then to make sure transitions go as smoothly as possible. Sticking to doctor's orders makes the process SO much better.

Wow I wish I could do as well as you are doing? I can barely eat and my body is hurting

Hope you get to feeling better soon! I'm up to 24 oz since 8am this morning it's 1:40 eastern time now. ALOT of walking, sipping 2 oz at a time.

Vsg03... Glad your doing good. Why did you have a drain? I thought only bypass got the drain

Not sure why the drain was added, I did see a lot of blood/fluid drained. But i feel good! I have no complaints!

I walk from my garage to my mail box 2 times (will count the steps next time) I walk my hall from one end of the house to the other about 5 times. I try to walk every hour. I'm sipping Water in a 1 oz medicine cup. The most I've got down consecutively is 3 oz. not pushing it at all. Since 8 am this morning i have consumed 27 oz of water and ensure high Protein Shake and one oz of Jello. It's 3:40 eastern time. I've surpassed the minimum requirement so if i get 48 oz in today, I'm happy. Check out my vlog on YouTube: I'm jmcbribe - I just posted a post op day 4 video. I try to sip every 15 to 20 minutes. Don't hesitate to ask questions, I'll do the best i can to answer!!

Agree totally with vsg30815. I used a little notepad for the first few months to track all fluids and foods. It's helpful to keep you on track throughout each day, identify how to do better (after I progressed to being able to drink more at once, i realized I need to get a certain amount in by each meal to get enough fluids by the end of the day and I was careful to keep up with my schedule) and as a way to look back on how I've progressed throughout the first few months. Finally, it allows me to answer questions about what I ate and drank early out. Without that notebook, it would be easy to forget.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞
