Sorry in advance if this is a silly question.. but I have noticed that the dosage on my B12 says to take 1 a day or every 2 days .. and my instructions since surgery say 1500/weekly - not daily. Am i missing something? if the regular dosage says 1500 mg every day or other day .. how are we getting enough by taking 1 a week?

Every surgeon and program has their own guidelines. I take B12 everyday. It's pretty much impossible to take too much, so my surgeon likes it high. If your surgeon is happy with your levels, and you're feeling good, then its working. If you see an issue with your bloodwork, though, maybe you should talk to him about taking it more often

I think they start everyone out at a baseline dose, I am on 1000 mcg a week. Just got my 6 month lab back and I am good so I assume no change to my dose. If I was low, they would up it at that point. I think the fact that I have been sick for 4 months of those 6 that's pretty good!

I take my B12 on a daily basis, or when I remember. I hear it helps us get a lot more energy. ;)

I take my B12 daily, too. My surgeon said I could decrease it to 3 times a week, but I feel more energetic when I take it daily. I can use all the energy I can get! :)

I take 1200 in the liquid in the morning and then maybe another hit prior to going to the gym. Far less than what you'd find in a 5 hr Energy shot so you're fine taking more daily. I call it my B12 zoom cause I'm bouncing off the walls right after taking it!

goodness all this has me worried.. so far all of you are taking way more than i am lol .. I do feel like I am lacking energy a lot, and sometimes that causes my motivation to be in the pits........ could this be a result of not taking enough B12?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
