Hi,

I'm pre-op and planning to have my surgery sometime in May. Just wondering if anyone has a blender that they'd recommend.

Thanks! :)

I'm almost eight weeks post op. I didn't really use my regular blender. I used shaker cups for almost everything, and when I pureed Soups, I used my immersion (stick) blender. I made mostly homemade Soups ahead of time though, so didn't have noodles or anything to process.

Good luck, hope your process goes smoothly!

The Blender Bottle is awesome for mixing your powders - I suggest getting the actual Blender Bottle brand - the lid is stay-tight and the flip lid "pops" into place and should not leak as you mix.

For a blender I just asked and Hubby says he thinks the magic bullet works well but he uses a food processor for my mushies, and often strains some of the ingredients ahead of time.

A juicer is a good thing to have too.

I think if you do not have alot of equipment (my hubby is a foodie who's hobby is cooking - we have a "good eats" kitchen). a Baby Bullet would be pretty cool - it is from the same people as Magic Bullet but has some additional pieces that lends itself to making small portions - and little storage pieces. I wanted one so bad, lol.

Wow...Oh my head.

Anyways, I use a small blender made by Oster. It uses a "bottle" that you screw the blades into the top, invert it onto the blender motor and twist. The thing blends great. When done blending, turn it back over and remove the blades and screw on the sip lid. I picked up a couple of extra bottles so I can rotate them out through the dishwasher. This thing crushes ice, mashes bananas and has no problems with shakes. I got it at Wal-Mart and have had not a bit of problem with it. I guess it is similar to the "Bullet".

The Blender Bottle is the best thing made. Again Wal-Mart has the best price for the bigger 20 oz bottle. I have 3, again helps with the dishwasher thingy. Always have one glued to my hand. Just be careful if you use it with hot liquids. The pressure will pop the topper.

Amazon has the Blender bottles (brand name) in all the colors. I use a baby bullet it works great and not a big clean-up. They work well together.

I never really used the blender either. I bought 3 shaker bottles as MaxMuscle where I got my Protein Shake drink. I did however buy a small food processor that I used once I started to eat some sliced meats and ran them through a little to grind them up a bit. It was also useful when i was eating pureed foods. I just bought a cheap 2 cup off brand model that had served me well

I have a Hamilton Beach mini blender that i got at Walmart for $19. I have been using it for 5 years. It crushes ice and does everything a regular blender does. I love it and I use it ever day. It's still going strong! That's much cheaper than a magic bullet.

I wasn't able to drink anything from a blender for well over a month after surgery because of how frothy it makes everything....my surgeon also warned against it. Now that I'm over 3 months out, I can use one. I have a HealthMaster and I LOVE it!!!....it's not cheap though. Mine was a gift and I probably never would have thought of spending that much on a blender. Now that I have it though, I absolutely recommend it!!!

We use the same $19 Hamilton Beach mini blender several times a day, every day. Love that thing. It out performs our Magic Bullet too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
