gadgetlady 4 Posted July 31, 2006 I've had heartburn for the past month, on and off, but today it's particularly horrible. I'm going for a slight unfill tomorow. I took some Zantac but it isn't really working and I'm really hungry. Does anyone know of any foods that will give me a little relief? My dh suggested drinking milk or eating yogurt, but I really have no idea what might help (or at least not make it worse!). I remember when I was pregnant I had heartburn and I used to suck on orange pops and they helped. But I don't have any orange pops in the house and I'm looking for something with more Protein.< /p>
Ariel 1 Posted July 31, 2006 I used to have frequent heart burn and milk or really any dairy product really helps. What ever you do don't have any salsa or anything spicy or with a Tomato base. Also if you can eat them sometimes dry crackers help.

Elisabethsew 50 Posted July 31, 2006 Drink LOTS of Water to move the food down. Heartburn is caused by a reflux of gastric acids back up into the esophagus. Try eating 6 small meals a day instead of three and drink lots of water after and inbetween eating. Your MD should put you on an H2 blocker (nexium, previcid, etc.) for a trial period. Feel better! Devana 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Digestive enzymes sometimes work. The better ones have amylase for carbs, protease for Proteins and lipase for fats. They often work better than the straight bromelain.
jgordo17 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Hey, I know it may sound crazy, but the absolute best thing you can do for heartburn is apple cider vinegar. 2 Tablespoons. I know it tastes horrible, but follow it with a bit of Water, you will be shocked how quickly it works. If the first treatment doesn't work, try one more treatment about an hour later, but you likely won't need it. Let me know how it works for you.
