There are a few..

I go to Dr. Neal in Olympia who uses a barium swallow (Fluoroscopy). It is more expensive, but more accurate. $350 www.pacsurgical.com

There is a Kitty Carmichael in Arlington 360-435-5365, who can do your non-fluoro fill cheaply if your port is shallow. She only had 2" needles last time I asked. Can you feel it easily?

Dr. Fox in Tacoma can do a non-fluoro fill for $400 the first time, then it gets cheaper, $225 I think.

Dr. Chebli is nice, and affordable, but I had a less than positive experience there. Check him out on Obesity help. He has a new Seattle address.

There may be a few more, but these are the ones we discuss most frequently.

PM if you need more contact info on these guys or if you have questions, Welcome to the boards!

Matthew1,

If you are near Portland, my husband and I are getting our first fills done there. Here is the website link http://www.gastricbands.com/ . I've spoken with Dr. Fitzpatrick on the phone and she seems great. Haven't had a fill yet, and she doesn't use a flora, but has someone she can send you to if you need one, plus she requires one every 6-12 months.

Blind fills are generally "safe", fluoro fills are generally "safer".

They also hurt less (fewer needle sticks), can give earlier restriction, and can spot issues before they become problems.

Congrats on your great taste in surgeons, did you like him?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
