Surgey Was On 2-6. Just Some Questions

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm not really what you would call an expert on the cramps. I do however feel something ball up inside and yes it pulses three or four times. Then it is gone. It's not a small pain though. It's pretty stout for just a few seconds.

I think it may be spasms. Try drinking room temperature or warm things and see if it still happens. I've heard alot of ppl say they can't tolerate cold drinks at first.

My sleeve is seriously mad at me today. It's so scary, even though I know this is all part of the process.

Hi. I just had surgery on Monday and I have some questions. I am finding it hard to get more than 30

Ounces of fluids in me a day. Is this normal 4 days later. And I years for something other than juice and Protein shakes and chicken broth. Also my taste buds seemed to have changed. I bought

Crystal light lemonade cause it's my favorite and now I can't stand the taste. So weird. Any tips or things you did during liquid diet. Is yogurt allowed? This has been a tough week but I think ok doing well so far. Excited for the future.

..

Yes this is VERY normal. You have to put yourself on a schedule. Drink so many ounces every hour or so. Also, all fluids count to your total. Protein Shakes, jellos, pop sicles, all that. I however did not count yogurts or anything that solid. I've heard some do though, so you'll have to choose yourself, or ask your surgeon what they suggest.

Re: Crystal Light, isn't something I have ever really consumed much of. When I do though I dilute it, such as only using half tubes instead of the whole thing, or putting much more Water than the 16.9 oz bottle. I just prefer Water myself.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
