PreciousCargo 55 Posted February 10, 2012 This morning I woke up feeling dizzy. I walked to the kitchen and fainted. I immediately started drinking, two cups of milk and two cups of pedialyte. I proceeded to call the nurse who returned my phone call a little later. She said pedialyte has to much sugar and can cause the dumping syndrome. She asked about my Vitamin intake. I have not been taking any Vitamins because the chewables and liquid make me gag and throw up and the gummies dont have enough of the necessary nutrients. I didnt think I could take the whole tablets, however she did give me permission to start today. So I am back to liquids, basically the beginning again. I wish I could get the hang of this. LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted February 10, 2012 The first few months are by far the hardest. You will get through this!! *hugs* And, if you can only take the gummies take 2... it won't hurt you. Something is better than nothing. All the best!!
KellyL 173 Posted February 10, 2012 I'm sorry you are having a rough time! I would definitely focus on fluids to see if that helps. There's the G2 that is Gatorade but no or less sugar that you can look into. I'm glad you are going to start getting your Vitamins in. I didn't think we had dumping syndrome as Sleevers, that is more of a Bypasser issue, but she probably deals with them more often. I hope you feel better soon!!
mominkansas 2 Posted February 10, 2012 poor you:( I hope you feel better soon. Can you do Flinstones?
IowaAndy 95 Posted February 10, 2012 Even though Gatorade has sugar you obviously need fluids and to get your Vitamins. I agree with taking the gummies as they are better than nothing and I took several a day when I was taking them. Also I would not worry too much about the sugar in the gatorade except for the calories. As long as you do not make this a long term drink the calories are the least of your worries. I am more concerned that you are dehydrated and low on your vitamins. When is the last time you had your blood checked for Calcium, potassium etc. This would be a chemistry profile. If it has been a while you may want to go in and see your primary care and they could draw this for you also. Also you did not mention how far out you are from your surgery date and what type of foods you are able to eat at this time. Hope you are feeling better. HI Andy!, I havent made the cut yet, but I would get some liquid vitamins and a eye dropper and put a few drops in everything I drank, all day. I already purchased my arsenal for the long stretch of before and during and after surgery. Hang in there
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted February 10, 2012 So sorry your having a bad day! Did the pedialyte give you dumping syndrome? If not, no harm. I like to drink G2 because it's low calorie, but have drank the regular Gatorade. I also dilute it down to 25% to 50% Water and it still tastes really good. Hope you feel better. PreciousCargo 55 Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for your responses.. I had my surgery three weeks ago today. I cant do the liquid vitamins since they make me vomit 'JHope'. 'IowaAndy' I was in the hosp last week for dehydration. The doctor said the fluids they gave me in the hosp have ran their course and I am dehydrated again. Yesterday I posted I was having leg cramps today dizziness. I am going to try the Powerade Zero tonight. 'Dorrie' I did show signs of the dumping syndrome today, to much sugar, caused me vomiting. 'Unbanded', I am going to buy those types of Vitamins tomorrow. "Kellyl' I was surprised too when they told me the dumping syndrome could happen in gastric sleeve patients also. It is all a learning process.
