Just Realized It's Been Two Months Sice My Sleeve!

Recommended Posts

Was reading some of the posts here and realized that it has been two months and 5 days since my sleeve. I almost forgot about the time that has passed. I'm down 68 pounds and feel great! I read alot of the posts about others whom are starting their jouney and feel the pain the anguish that so many go thru. The post surgery shock I call it. Seems that after my sleeve surgery, everything changed. No more huge meals, rotten snack eating and I felt like I was missing something. I kept telling myself it was a lifestyle change and as of this week, it has been. Hell, I forgot how long ago I was sleeved. I chose to eat healthy foods and excersie daily, not on a treadmill or elliptical or bowflex, as I have them, they work great for hanging wet towels on from the hottub, but now I get up and move with my life. I feelt that if I started on the machines, I would feel like I used too and just fall of the wagon as I hate to use them. Literally hate it. So now I just move. Be it working around the house, on my truck, others equipment, anything that keeps me moving inside my realm of thing I like to do. Build things, fix things, hunt, fish, etc. It's been a rough first month or so and smooth sailing since for the most part. I would do this again in a heart beat! Blood sugars are normal, high blood pressure gone and really feel like I was lucky to cheat out death at a young age.

I still have work to do on myself, but it's gotten so much easier that I can't beleive it's me anymore. When I was overweight and feeling terrible, I used to plan my moves in my head. Ok I'll walk here, but no further, need to rest some, ok lets do this again. i would purposely not do things that required alot of walking. Now I don't even think about it and just do it. Like it's effortless for me. Such a wonderful feeling to have again. I can't remember when I lost that years ago. I just know now that it's back and I want to keep it for the rest of my life.

What a great topic! I'm envious and can't wait to be in your shoes! I have my fingers crossed for a late March or early April sleeve date. If I could hop up on the OR table now, I would totally be there!

This is so great! I feel the same way. I don't have the pain in my knees anymore that kept me from wanting to walk. It just disappeared one day.LOL! THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!!

Thanks for your post Royboy. I am in the post surgery shock stage right now and I'm not liking it very much. I know that I made the right decision and I know that this will all be worth it in a couple more weeks. Just hearing you say what I already know helps. Thanks again.

Royboy,

What a great post! It sounds like you have a fantastic attitude,a nd I know you are going to do absolutely great! I am 8 months post op, and it seems like once I got past the initial "shock" of the post op period, things have gone so well. I can so identify with how you feel about activityt getting so much easier. It was hard dragging around 100 extra pounds of self. Congratulations! Keep rockin' your sleeve!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
