What Do You Guys Think About Nectar Protein Shakes?

Recommended Posts

Love the vanilla Bean Torte and Latte Cappuccino flavors in my morning coffee! I make a 16 oz. coffee/protein drink every morning - sometimes iced, sometimes hot and it definitely helps keep the weight off and my Protein intake up.

Cheri, how do you prepare it hot?! I love Hot drinks, especially now in the winter, but I can't seem to be able to get my Proteins to work in hot liquid -- they clump up or remain in a lumpy texture. Any tricks or tips?! Thanks!!!!

I brew the coffee into a measuring cup and add one ice cube, bringing it down from scalding hot to something more manageable. Then I pour it into my shaker cup (I use one with a wire ball) and add my Protein powder and usually a little cold Creamer, too. I shake it all up, taking a break to pop the lid of the shaker cup halfway through so it won't explode on me. No clumps, no fuss! Nice hot coffee, too. If you're someone that needs to drink scalding hot lava coffee it won't work for you, but I never touch my coffee until I won't burn myself, anyway. :smile1:

I buy mine from mybariatricpantry.com

You can buy a them in individual servings which make them so easy to travel with. Each box comes with 12 individual packets, each one scoop.

(BTW - The Pantry Selections hot chocolate is also one of my staples...low cal, low carb with 15 grams of protein)

Yesterday at costco I realized the Premier premade drinks everyone raves about are not lactose free :banghead: and my unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is running out, so I will check if Nektar is Isolate whey. Thanks Liliana and everyone else!

Just went to their website and they have free shipping on the variety pack. The price is $13.00 and they are lactose free! yeah!

Excellent! Thank for the tip. I actually have the shaker cup with the ball whisk! I tried my bullet but as you say things tend to explode. Also, I tried the mixer you submerge, but it's messy, not enough liquid etc. Mixing slowly by hand left clumps. I never thougth of the ball whisk. DUH! Although I did try a regular whisk. Somehow I could not get the hang of it. I think putting it in that cup and whisking and releasing the pressure should do the trick. I don't like things too hot either so your technique should work. Can't wait to try it out. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the website - I ordered from them. Actually website listed a phone number to call. I received the sample pack today so it took only a few days to get here. Haven't tried any yet but am excited I have them for preop diet in a couple weeks. Other sites were more money and charged shipping. This one did not.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
