Where Are All The Guys At?!?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

There are more homes in the US with dogs but more cats in the country. Why? Most homes with cats have more than one. Why?

CATS ACCUMULATE!!

They have some kind of telepathic power that calls cats in and puts suggestions in your subconscious to get more.

We started with CoCo Puff. We "decided" to get him a companion so we got Tigger from a farm. Then Spoticus wandered in from a field and attached himself to the horde. We then "had the bright idea to go to a cat show", telling ourselves that 3 cats was quite enough and resolved to go no further. But then the humane society had ribbons all over Clepatra's cage,(we later renamed her Cleocatra). Amazing that a one-eyed black cat could earn such awards but we bit on it after some displays of affection and no doubt some telepathy from the feline in question.

We are determined that 4 is all. But who knows what the combined mental pressure of the 4 will do to our weakened will.

We were the same way too... always saying this # is enough... then you start collecting 2 at a time. LOL We have 6 now, and we surely are maxed out! But, as I say that we have 4 additional outdoor kitties that have adopted us as well. So I guess that's 10 now. <_<

Oh my goodness this is soooo true (AT least in OUR household!) My hubby is sleeved and has neither the time nor desire to join a message board. He learned everything he knows about the sleeve from me! Which is ok. I don't mind being his mentor, and together we have lost almost 170lbs and both look and FEEL 10 years younger. So all is well with us, but I have to just put in here that generally the men aren't as "chatty" as the women. Just how it is!

Between work, exercise, and taking on some extra responsibilities around the house since my wife is in nursing school and working it seems all my computer time has disappeared...but I wouldn't trade anything for how I feel right now.

Three months ago it was a chore to get off the couch, now I look for an excuse to not go sit on the couch. The only down side is how easy it is to start spending lots of money as I find all of these new projects around the house I want do now. Amazon, Lowe's, and Home Depot stock should be doing well the past couple of months.

I be here too. I'm about a month pre-op and having the preparatory tests done. sleep study, scope down the throat, counseling, ultrasound. I think my surgeon has ordered evry single test possible for me! He is on record as reccomending a RNY, but the more I read about the sleeve, the more I am definately going with it. I have a high BMI and am afraid that I won't get to where I want to be. (Thin) I am so sick of being fit and all of the crap that comes along with it that I want to get down to almost skinny. I want to be able to walk and walk and walk. So sick of being almost disabled.

Ahh, TMI you say? OK, getting off my soap box.

Not TMI at all. You're right where I was 5 months ago. Now I can walk and and walk. No doubt in my mind you can get there if you put the work in and follow the program.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
