I SOO want to do yoga but everytime I try I feel lightheaded and dizzy. I have hypotension, always low blood pressure so bending down and blood flowing all over the body makes me wanna lie down and sleep. Hoping I can do yoga because it seems so stress free

OK my peeps I can not wait to try yoga...I was at Sam's club this past week and bought the cutest tie die yoga top and pants lol...what else will I need??

Do I need a mat? Do you wear tennis shoes when you do yoga? or just socks? I wish my new gym was open NOW lol

Bare foot is the best way to do yoga, but socks are okay too :) it seems easier to balance and less slippery if I am barefoot. Most gyms have mats that you can use, at least at the beginning. Once you know that you will continue, or if you are simply grossed out by the provided mats, you can bring you own. Lol! A towel (for sweat and stretching) and a bottle of water... after a couple classes you may find that yoga blocks are helpful (they make it easier to reach the ground, keep you off the ground, etc. At the beginning I just watched what other people were doing and the tools they used and figured out what helped me best. But simply it is me my mat, towel, bottle of Water and patience! :) (oh, and yoga pants, or sweats work best. Shorts will ride and be uncomfortable if ya know what I mean!)

Yoga poses do not have to be alot of bending over and such. There are many traditional forms of yoga, and there will always be an over abundance of trends.

Do only what you can, do NOT sign an agreement - you should try to experience many classes and many instructors. Do alot of research on the types and what you want out of it. I would suggest avoiding anything that adds heat, or at least for your first classes.

If you hurt - really hurt, you need to slow down. In my experiences many "beginners" classes aren't, and you can injure yourself easily.

I have been doing yoga continuously for over 20 years, so not really an expert, but seasoned...

I am waiting to get to a weight that I can do acro yoga!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
