Itsanewdaycassandra 45 Posted February 9, 2012 1st yoga class tonight and Ihope that I don’t look like a total fool. This has been a goal of mine for years and now that I have less weight and my joints don’t hurt I thought I’d try it. That being said, I am fearful of being the big woman in the class and the looks and whatnots, I guess I’ll just have to get over it. Thanks for letting me vent. I love this group! 1 sleeve 4 me reacted to this
Tif 2.0 141 Posted February 9, 2012 I want to try yoga too!!! Go for it girl! Don't be afraid of looks or anything like that. My mindset at the gym has always been, if people can't appreciate that I'm at the gym and trying to better myself then they can kiss my @$$. All that matters is how YOU feel about it. I will warn you, my girlfriend does yoga 3 times a week and she said the downside of it is that people tend to be gassy in class. It's like all the stretching really works stuff out. She does Bikram I think. Where the room is 95 degrees. My only fear really would be passing gas in front of everyone, but if everyone else is doing it....LOL Go for it!!! You can do it. As soon as I'm completely healed I'm going to try it too.
Itsanewdaycassandra 45 Posted February 9, 2012 LOL really!!! Thank you for that and maybe I’ll take a gasX this afternoon….
fluffylibra30 323 Posted February 9, 2012 sit in the back so if you fart no one feels/smells it lol. But seriously i do pilates once a week, and i have never seen a funny look or felt displaced, just becuase women are thinner doesnt mean they arent worried there is always something to stress about. we think they are judging us, and actually they are thinking, "i hate my nose, "these pants make my butt look big", "i cant believe i ate all that ice cream" every woman has they dont like about themselves! Go and have a great time! 1 longer-life reacted to this
longer-life 139 Posted February 9, 2012 Have fun and remember not all classes are the same. I have had some that are more into meditation/peacefulness/wellbeing and others were very tough for me, but my 65 year old non obese mom could do. Tell the yogi you are new and he/she will help you. I would start at the back of the class. I can't wait to go back!!!!!! Good for you for trying new things!!
rebecca b 19 Posted February 9, 2012 i admire you courage to start something new, i feel the same fear and haven't moved past it yet. Let me know how it goes!
Itsanewdaycassandra 45 Posted February 9, 2012 I'll post how the class went. I could really use it now, I'm having 1 heck of a work day, before sleevie this would have been an eating day.
Forensikchic 528 Posted February 9, 2012 I did my first yoga class Tuesday night. It was hard for me to hold the poses but I felt very relaxed when I left. My instructor helped me with the poses and it was ok. I think I might even go back again! Good luck! 1 Tif 2.0 reacted to this
Itsanewdaycassandra 45 Posted February 10, 2012 Guess what Yoga was fun!!! Could I do most of the poses…? No…but there was an open atmosphere and almost everyone in the class came across as non judgmental which was nice, so I think I’m going to put down becoming a Yoga chick but 2013 as a goal. My vote is that everyone gives it a try, its much less stressful then other gym experiences. 2 Tif 2.0 and sleeve 4 me reacted to this

StephS3 7 Posted February 10, 2012 How funny you posted this topic, I actually took my first yoga class on Tuesday. I actually really enjoyed it and am planning on making it a regular part of my workout routine. The thing that struck me the most while I was doing the yoga poses is how there is no way in **** I would have been able to do 1/4 of them before my surgery. It is amazing how our bodies transform while losing the weight. For me, it is about balance, I am feeling more and more clumsey in my new body and it is my understanding that yoga can help with that. I have been dying to try all of these! Thanks for the
sabrina140 33 Posted February 11, 2012 Hey! My first yoga class was on Wednesday night! I took my 267 lb @ss to yoga class with my tiny 16 year old daughter (first time for both of us), and it was amazing! I am still a little sore from stretching muscles I never knew existed, but I loved it! Can't wait for next Wednesday to get here. I can foresee this becoming my new healthy addiction For those who have not tried it: do not be discouraged if you don't know a thing about yoga, or end up in a class with a non-instructive instructor. Go at your own pace. Stop if you need to stop. Its okay! 1 sleeve 4 me reacted to this
