Have A Negative Home Pregnancy Test, But Still Pregnant?

Recommended Posts

Have any of you actually been pregnant, but had a negative home pregnancy test? My cycle was coming on like clockwork, then it stopped, I'm a month late and CRAMPING LIKE CRAZY. I finally went to te dr, and took a blood test and I'm still waiting for the results. Just wanted to know if anyone went through the same thing.

The only reason I can think of that you might have a negative home pregnancy test and still be pregnant is if you were too early for the test to detect the hcg in your urine. If you are a month late, there should be no issue with the test not detecting it. I once had a negative urine test in my OBGYN's office and turned out to actually be pregnant - it was just too early when they did the test. 4 days later I still hadn't gotten my period and just had a feeling so I bought another test and did it at home and it was SUPER positive then! Good luck - hope you get some answers soon!

yes it is possible. False positives on a home test are very very rare. But you can have false negatives for sure. It just depends on the amount of the hormone your body produces. Do you have any other signs? Breast tenderness, darkened areolas, nausea, hightened sense of smell? There are lots of natural signs. With my second child I had a positive blood test but it wasn't until I was 4 months along that the home pregnancy test actually registers as positive.

With my first pregnancy, I took THREE home test which all came back negative. A blood test is how I found I was pregnant so they can definitely read wrong.

If your pregnancy was given to you as positive by a doctor, then why are you still taking home preg tests? These may be expired or old and some just don't work right. . . if you haven't confirmed your preg with a doctor, well maybe it would be a good idea . . just my thoughts

she said she was still waiting for the results. Let's not be condescending, please.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
