I Can't Eat Anymore (Gross)

Recommended Posts

They called, I got scripts and all is much better so far. If I'm feeling worse tomorrow,, they want me to come in. I'm cutting back on solids and getting more liquids in so I don't get dehydrated. They want me to slow down when I'm eating and chew the heck out of my food..and it's helping with the nausea and my bowels finally moved. I think it was just a different couple of days for me and after my leak,,and tpn I'm just getting to know how things are working and how to do it. I didn't know eating would be so complicated with the sleeve..I knew I'd be eating less but it's like you have to have a schedule and routine,,timing plays a big role.

I find if I rush and don't chew it will simply reverse direction after a very uncomfortable interlude. You have to give yourself time to be able to tell when you are full. Pushing past that will not work for the sleeve. There is nowhere for it to go except right back up the esophagus.

Glad you got help. Our bodies survive quite well on liquids. Take your Vitamins though.

You are so right about eating being complicated. I feel like I have a huge "to do" list every day since surgery! Protein grams, Fluid, Vitamins, etc. etc. You have to time the liquids just right too since you have to wait an hour in between meals. I still don't feel like I am on a normal schedule.

Glad you are feeling better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
