I have 4/6 kids stll at home. My oldest here has the best amune system ( God Bless her) however, I have 3 toddlers in the same preschool class that catch EVERYTHING and share with mommy. I have a stomache flu right now. It comes with a bad headache and vice like muscle pain. If I eat I get sick. I can keep Water down, but it is like when I first was sleeved. I have to sip it. My biggest problem is my medicine. I take it and it comes back up. I am already loosing hair from the everyday vsg diet. Now that I'm sick I'm afraid the shock of no food will make me bald. I would appreciate any advice on this. Thank you

According to both my doc and hairdresser (yes I consulted my hairdresser too about the Hair loss :) but they both said that you won't lose it in clumps, but just equally spread out throughout your head, so it shouldn't be that noticeable. And if for some reason it really starts thinning out, you can get really great clip in hair extensions (I use them normally anyway for special occasions) to fill in where needed. You can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply. I know this probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but just in case, here's a potential solution. But you should probably call your surgeon and just let him/her know what's going on. My surgeon asked me to call if anything out of the normal happens so that he can adjust meds, intake, etc if necessary.

a few days sick will not cause you to go bald. I know that it feels like an eternity when you ARE sick, but it won't have that effect. You may want to contact your doctor or your surgeon for something that can help with the nausea though - needing to get in your Protein and not being able to isn't good :(

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
