First let me start off by saying AAAAAAAH, I cant Be my surgery is on March 5!!..

Now that I screamed my lungs out, reality is hitting me very slowly.. I just turned 22 on the 28th of january, and thanked God that i was really healthy growing up, in a way that if we cut out the part of always being obese since childhood, started when i was 5 really.. so we kick that out, n i could say that i was a normal healthy kid, just bigger than others..

Reality is sinking in, never had the chicken pops, never had restless nights with fevers and all that throwing up and runny bowel movements we have growing up, from germs everywhere, or from being around other kids.. Dont have high blood pressure, don't have diabetes, don't have any medical health problems that come with being obese.. Thank God...

but now that i am 22, n i am looking around me towards other obese people, knowing what they are going thru, and seeing it in my family.. made me think of weight loss surgery.. only because i have struggled all my life since 9 to lose weight, tried everything, n nothing, the weight i loss i would gain back 5x.. But i am scared because of my first of everythings i never thought that in the category of surgeries in lifespan, that my first was not c-section- or apendix- or gall bladder... or tonsels-- but gastric sleeve surgery!.. It just slapped me in the face. even now i am thinking " wow u are really going through with this, u are almost there, dont back down"!

I want to live a good life, i want to do things i would have done, but going to do it better with a new body!.. finally get on all the rides at the fair without having to think that oh but will i fit in this one, or wat if i slip out n this thing cant hold my weight.. going to fit into clothes i would never even thought of fitting, even though i tried, n squeezed my self into lol.. u too lol.. so little by little i will have to learn for the rest of my life, how to maintain n keep a healthier life style without going back to old habits.. i hope the 2 weeks arnt that bad for me, for i love food, but dont we all lol.. n for the greater good success is only months away!!! cant wait for summer, here in miami is soo hot

Same here...I'm scared too. Never had a surgery other than wisdom teeth removal but that doesn't count. You're doing the right thing though. Think of all the posts on here that say "I wish I'd done this surgery sooner!"

I'm 23, and had the surgery done last August. I definitely had the same fears as you. I too am young and don't have any of the comorbidities that older people suffer with. I never had any major surgery (wisdom tooth extraction doesn't really count, does it? lol). I started out as a normal sized kid, but then quickly became overweight to obese around 8-10 years old. I had been fat ever since.

VSG was my first major surgery, and hopefully will be my last for at least awhile. Comorbidities like diabetes and high blood pressure all run in my family, and I want to stay healthy.

I see that your surgery is 5 days away. You'll be so happy you got it done. I am.

I started this weight loss journey at 225 lbs, and now 7 months later I weigh 149.7 lbs. Do I regret it at all? No! I would never have gotten under 150 lbs in my life were it not for VSG.

You can do this. Recovery is difficult, but it's all worth it in the end. If you want to message me, I would gladly talk to you about this to relieve any fears you may have :)

Thank you so much for this feed!!

Ladies, I am 25...and Im freaking out, well really Im excited not scared right now... I havent even set the surgery date, that is being done next Friday, BUT IM DOING IT.

Once I cut my thumb and I didnt even let the dr. put stitches! But my friend did it and her incisions are barely noticeable and she said she wasnt in much pain.

Its crazy how I can pinpoint events in my life by how much i weighed. I remember being a size 2-4 freshman year and junior year being a size 9-11 then my senior yr in HS i was a 16. Im not going to front Im a size 20 now. That bugs me out! I was a sexii size 9 and I think I looked pretty good, damn good actually! But that is in comparison to now. I wonder what I will think when Im a size 9 again and Im looking at pictures of me at size 2. Will I still say "girl you were too small and your head was too big--looked like a lollipop" (maybe because thinking of that size now the way I am i feel i can never be there again) or will I say, "Yoli you got this far you can go a little more"

I think a good compromise is a 7. LOL. I hope to be healthy enough to start a family with my husband in the future (at this weight i cant) but Ill be so so spo happy to be able to wear a bathing suit and feel good! Another goal, a full body wax HAHAHA smooth, tanned and thin...but not too JERSEY GIRLISH.

<3 :D

2Bonederfulagain lol I was reading your post thinking, Wow! I am just like this girl lol then I realized you're from Jersey. lol Me too!! Your "lollipop" comment was too funny!!! lol

I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 15th and feel exactly how you do. I am freaking out one moment and then the next I'm excited. This is going to be my first surgery as well so this thread was extremely comforting to know that there have been others who felt the same way. Can't wait to get this new life going!!!

Make sure to keep us updated with what is going on with you and let us know your surgery date!!! :)

Heyy guys! I am waiting to find out my surgery date. Should get the call any day now! I loveddd reading all of your posts! They are so encouraging! Like most of you I haven't had surgery before (except wisdom teeth! haha) So I'm really nervous. But by what all of you are saying it is going to be so worth it :D I just want to be confidant and maybe even not cringe when I wear a bathing suit! lol I'm just so excited to feel and look better!

I felt the same way, the only "surgery" I ever had was my wisdom teeth pulled if that even counts!

When you go in they will most likely give you something to mellow you out, and if they dont then ask. I was so damn nervous but I got pretty calm right before I went under, I knew I was making the right choice. Its not the easy way as a lot of people say that have not had surgery, if anything it is harder then all the times I have dieted pre-op, but you know what it is so worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
