Went For A Bra Fitting - Pampered Myself

Recommended Posts

I did something for myself today I have never done before. I went to have a professional bra fitting at a SOMA lingerie store. Even though I have 10 pounds to go to hit my original goal (I may rethink that goal and stop for now), my breasts have quit changing size. YEA! None of my bras fit right in all places - if the cups were right, the straps wouldn't stay on my shoulder or the band didn't fit right. I have been wearing mostly Aah bras as I shrank in weight - since they were accomodating as my breasts were changing size rapidly. As much as I like those bras, I still like a traditional bra, too.

I ended up being a 36C. The bra style that fit me best was their "Emma" a soft cup (rather than a molded cup) that is a minimizer. The tops of my breasts didn't fill out the top of the molded C cup well and were too much for a B cup. THe soft cup minimizer fits them perfectly. I think the "minimizer" construction is good to take all of the loose skin on my breast tissue and suck it in (like shapewear). This bra puts the girls back where they should be and I have no lumps are bulges of fat anywhere!

If you have bras that you want to get rid of that are in lightly used good shape, they are taking back bras (any brand) and donating them to a women's shelter organization. THis is going on until February 26th. I am going to go through my lingerie drawer and get rid of my ill fitting bras.

Wearing a bra that fits after wearing one that doesn't is like finally wearing shoes that fit after wearing shoes that are the wrong size. What a difference. I have worn one of my new bras since I was at the store (wore it out instead of putting my old one back on.) Don't think I have ever had one one that made me feel better.

If you want to pamper yourself when you get at goal - give this a try!

I SO AGREE! I did this after losing around 50 pounds, and it was the best thing ever. It really makes a big difference in both look and comfort.

I have no clue what size I wear usually, so I go in every 20-30 pounds and ask them to re-measure me. There's an outlet store near me that carries a variety of brands and the girls are really good about doing the measurements. I had it done about 2 months ago at Lane Bryant and the girl measured me WAY wrong. If it's not TMI, my "girls" are about between a C-D cup and she came up with DDD. Which might be right if I had a 28 inch torso! ;)

This is so sad for me.

I was never very big. When I was fat I was about a 42C. I went for a bra fitting at

Victoria Secret. There is no Somas here. I live in the middle of nowhere and in fact, had to go to Victoria Secret 100 miles away.

Anyway, they didn't have a bra to fit me . Since losing weight, I have completely lost my boobs. I tried on several A cups but they were all too big. For some reason, I am smaller than I was in H. S. when I weighed less than this.

I've gained a little weight back but not in my boobs! Baahhh!

Just came here to see if there was already a topic for this - and there is!

After buying some new clothes for the first time in forever, it became painfully obvious that I needed some new bras as well. I had a breast reduction a year and a half ago and my sleeve was in December, so I was completely in the dark as far as bra size. I have been wearing the same ol' stretched out 38D soft cups that I bought at Target after my reduction but they aren't doing the job.

My husband took me to Nordstrom tonight for a fitting. I was really surprised to be measured at a 36DDD! I still feel very itty-bitty, to tell the truth. I bought three Natori underwires, the first underwires I have had since before my reduction. Two were from the clearance rack, thankfully! They are still the nicest bras I have ever owned though. I have never had a bra fit to my breastbone properly before. I don't know how to explain what I mean exactly, but the girls are totally separated.

The lady at Nordstrom who fitted me was so nice. I have always heard it was a great place for bra fittings, and she was very sensitive in spite of saggy skin and whatnot. I used to shop at Nordstrom when I was in my 20s with not a care in the world, but haven't stepped foot in the store since my weight battles (I am 47 now). I told her I didn't want to spend too much on bras because I was still losing weight, and she was awesome about the clearance bras.

It's a total pampering, but I highly recommend it. I would never have guessed my size at 36DDD. I am sure I would have ended up at Target and who knows what size.

Amanda - I'm glad you had the same success I did getting a well fitting bra. I totally understand what you are saying about the bras fitting your breastbone. When I got mine that fitted right, I thought "wow, so THAT is how a bra is supposed to fit" Who knew?

Nordstrom is a wonderful place to shop. I'm glad they grave you outstanding service.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
