I am not enjoying the Vitamins at all. I am going to finish taking the bariatric Vitamins I've purchased, and then switch to the liquids that I took prior to surgery.

While I tried samples ahead of surgery, and those were okay, taking them every day has become burdensome. I try to follow them with a couple of teaspoons of cottage cheese or similar, which helps.

But, I'll be glad when they are gone.

I am also having trouble keeping chewables and liquid vitamins. It makes me dry heave or throw up. Is it possible to take the Vitamin in a pill?

My surgeon recommended Celebrate chewables so I bought them and they were expensive. I had the same problem after my surgery; before the surgery I could take them with no problem. Now they make me vomit. When I mentioned this to him he said, "yeah lots of folks can't handle them after the surgery". He told me to find a good adult Gummy chewable at the drug store. That's what I did and have had no problems with them. Wish he hadn't advised me to buy those expensive Celebrate ones first. Good luck!

I would be careful with different Vitamin formulations. not all have essential minerals. my nutritionist recommended Centrum (regular) or it's equivalent---like costco's regular Multivitamin. but they are huge horse pills and if I can't keep them down then what's the use.

btw, I took my daughter's Gummy Vitamins my 1st week after surgery and they were great. tasted great! but unfortunately they don't have the vitamins/minerals I need.....

YES! Can't keep them down either and have tried several of the bariatric brands in addition to a generic CVS children's chewable. I'm going to go get some children's Flinstone's chewables or gummies (but my bariatric center at Stanford says chewable only - I think better to get them down than not though) and see if that works. I'm also not able to keep down the calcium citrate (Celebrate brand) and will look for an alternative for that.

Regular pills make me ill too. I started taking adult gummies that I found at Sams Club. I like them because you can kind of just suck on them and let them melt in your mouth. So far, almost 5 months out, I haven't had any issues with them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
