BuBsmama 1 Posted September 9, 2012 Hello all, I hav'nt been on for a few months. A LOT has happened. Wow, where to begin.... 1 week post op I had a leak, emer. surg that night to "clean out" abd cavity & try & repair. From that point on, I was in & out of hosp. about 8-10 times, 2 gastric stents (so leak could heal), lung tapped due to 80% Fluid build up, then 5 hrs away to another hospital for a new procedure to fix leak. Along w/ that I had 4 Picc lines put in (kept having probs; finally last 1 worked) & alot of TPN (for nutrition). I actually kept positive through it-prob all the narcotics! j/k-but finally allowed myself to "grieve" the struggles I had. So as of now, I'm good. I am eating limited mushies, getting exercise & working-which I desperately needed to get back to for sanity sake! AND I'm down 80 lbs from pre surg and 100+ lbs from very start! I was petrified of getting a leak & I got one. BUT, all in all, I would do it again. You would be surprised what you can deal with once its handed to you So thats my story so far. If anyone is having a tough time, feel free to messsage me.
Jeni Martin 26 Posted October 1, 2012 How is everyone doing? Losing weight, go out and having fun, don't have as much time to be here?
Mrs.Riene 16 Posted January 18, 2013 Hello Everyone, I haven't been on Vertical Sleeve for a while. Everything is going great. Ok where do I begin, my stats. Starting weight 250 Current weight 163 Goal Weight 150 Overall everything is great I am now able to eat pretty much anything I want and with no side effects. I have tried everything to see if there is anything I can't eat, as of today I can eat everything. My favorite is fruit, sunflower seeds and my recipe for a mega Protein smoothie, for which I just love. As far as exercise, well I was going really strong during the hot months. Since it is cold where I live exercising is becoming none existence. The past couple of days I decide to break some of the exercises tapes I have accumulated over the past decade. Right now I am trying Billy Blank Tae Bo Boot Camp and boy, I am really sore, so I guess it is working. Also at my job they have a workout room that I can go to during my lunch break and work out there. I know some of you are asking why she hasn’t used her company gym when it got cold. Well to answer your question for the last couple of months our workout room was under construction. Now it is open I plan on using it with the combination of my tapes. Hey I was wondering if anyone is deal with friends who make comments or treat you differently since you lost your weight. Here lately some of my friends have been making comments like "you don't need to lose any more weight" or "you are trying to fit back into you teenage years". My favorite was "You must have done more than weights lose surgery because no one looks like that after losing close to 100 lbs. Sometime I just don't know where they are coming from. Am I supposed to be happy with these types of comments? I am not! They are really starting to get on my nerves. Especially because they are coming from ladies who I felt were in my corner. After talking with my husband who explained that some of their comments from some are genuine and those ladies do care, but the other are coming from jealousy place. The ladies who are saying the most are my friend that are overweight. They are constantly telling me not to lose any more weight or if you lose more weight you will become unhealthy. These are the same ladies who currently suffer from high BP, diabetes, knee issues and host of other ailments. I am not a rail I just feel good and am very proud I can shop at stores I like. Well enough on that, as I was saying previously I love my life and I am enjoying every moment of it from discovering I love to shop, especially boots to the fact that I can now walk up several flights of stairs without feeling like I am going to need some oxygen from an oxygen tank. My children are constantly telling me that they did not realize how big I was; when they look back on old picture they are amazed. Someone once asked me if I would have this surgery again and I told them yes and wish I had done it sooner. To all of my VSG beginners keep pressing your way to your surgery date. Life after VSG is amazing!!!
Time2Lose 16 Posted January 29, 2013 Hiya! I hear you on the comments. My boss who had refrained from making comments about my weight, came into my office the other day and said "seriously, you need to stop losing weight...get off the diet." I am past goal. I was shooting for 170lbs and I am now 158lbs and I need to stop! I am 5ft 11in and so I am already in small and x-small tops and medium pants. I am however having trouble getting enough calories in. What are you all eating at this point? I need to stop the drop! Help!
EmyWemy 32 Posted March 15, 2013 Hi March 2012 sleevers...it has been a very long while since I have been on here. Here's my own update. I'm currently in the middle of a stall (going on 5 months now), and although I have been frustrated at times that the scale is not moving in the down direction, I try to remain happy I've come down this far. I've been averaging about 1200 calories a day, which sometimes disappoints me because when I ate less than that I was losing weight. I do however, get bothered by comments from people around me that say "You had weight loss surgery last year...how come you're not at goal weight yet?". It's frustrating and I have to hold my tongue from saying anything I might regret later. Today a co-worker said to me after she noticed I just had my lunch "If you started, you should finish." I hated hearing that and I just wanted to walk away. I hope all you fellow sleevers are doing all right out there. Would be good to see how others are coming along too since this marks the 1 year post-op appointment.
