I bought WAY to much furniture!

DH is very involved in the decorating. I listen and then suggest my plan. Most of the time he executes my plan. ;)

Question:

Do most couples have mutual consensus on decorating their homes or do most women just decorate and let their husbands get used to it?

As far as I can tell, the husbands really don't care that much about it, and after the decorating is done they stop seeing it. Whereas women still see it - they have to, they're the ones dusting it.

P.S. The cat's are Baldrick, he's the 16 year old gray Maine Coon, and the white tub of lard, er, cat is Percy, he's 15 years old.

My hubby does have ideas about how things should be, fortunatly we have pretty much the same taste. He's really good at arranging furniture in a room.

But somehow, I'm still the one who sees that it does get dirty and need dusting!

OH YEAH, CONSENSUS! UH HUH....As I am reminded quite often, IF MOMMA AIN'T HAPPY, AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY. You catch my drift???

I have the answer to your problem, Donna. Just knock out that wall and move it back a few feet. MsJoy and I sort of did the same thing as you, but instead of buying our furniture, we built it. King size bed with headboard and footboard, two nightstands, TRIPLE dresser with custom built TRIPLE-sided mirror and an armoir. Of course, our bedroom is about 20 by 20. I love big rooms.....hehehe

Donna,

My husband doesnt say anything about color or decorating. My taste is more neutral/warm tones - definately generic when it comes to gender.

So.. since Im not one for the "girly-girl" kinda decoratoring

(for example: pink/lavander/white lacey-frilly-flower stuff all over) I guess he feels safe?

Donna, I love the furniture it looks great! Next step is to buy a bigger house!!!

My hubby is european...hence his sensitive nature...he has to approve EVERY decoration thing I do. He and I argued forever over the color to paint our walls, the material for our drapes, and of what pictures to hang up. Fortunately we were on the same wave length about furniture, but everything has to go by him first...... men..... :)

Well, the first room I painted in our house was my craft room. It was a VERY dark room, it go no sunlight ever because of the dense canopy from our greenbelt. So, I painted it in two colors of yellow and white. Very bright, very light, very cheerful! When I showed the colors to my husband, he just about freaked... NOOOO! you can't paint a room yellow and gold and white! No! Just... NO! Well, I sponged the two yellows together darker at the base boards up to lighter at the celing with the lighter yellow being sponged together with the white on the celing. It is such an increadibly cheerful room! I love it.

My husband loved it after I finished it. He decided then and there that he would just have to trust me when it came to picking colors for the house.

Of course, when I told him I was painting the living room and kitchen dark emerald green, with orange trim, he panicked until it was finished. Now, it's Yes dear. Here's the check-book Dear...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
