Recommend A Great Protein Bar

Recommended Posts

I am finding that I need to get in more Protein and I find that I do too much running and I'm out in public and suddenly hunger hits and I panic because I look around and all I see is fast food places as far as the eye can see. I am so over fast food. I now prefer lighter, healthier meals and Snacks. Can someone recommend an awesome Protein Bar?

Many Thanks!

You can bring a little baggie of Protein with you and a bottle of Water then whenever you need a boost just mix it together for a quick shake. I bring this with me to school and usually just get water from the water fountain and drink it while i walk to my next class

ISS wafers are the BEST!! They taste good, relatively low carbs and sugar. vitacost has the best price I have been able to find. I teach and keep a box of them in my desk drawer at all times.

Leederz ... Omg I do NOT want to drink another Protein shake. I used to love, love sugary sweet things and no matter how little grams of sugar, I cannot find a Protein Shake that doesn't make my stomach turn or make me gag. I am trying to get my Protein in with food these days. I'm so over those d*&@! shakes! Lol

Thank you guys for all your suggestions. Quest & ISS wafers are on my list to look into!

My favorite is Power Crunch in Peanut Butter Creme and Peanut Butter Fudge. They are a wafer which I like because so many of the bars are too chewy and sweet for me. I also like these b/c the Protein is hydrolyzed which means almost all 14 grams are absorbed.

for side Protein I use Greek Vanilla yogurt (15 grams of protein tastes great goes down smooth) and for others I use the Atkins bars. I try to find the ones with lower calories but with higher protein. I just had a Peanut Butter bar one that had 19 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar...but has 220 cals...based on what I've ate for the day I was able to fit it in.

I like the Power Crunch wafer/bars, and I just ordered Quest bars and Oh Yeah Nutrition bars -- they both look like they have great potential to both taste good and deliver good Protein with relatively decent carbs.

I also have premier Protein Bars too, they are ok too, but pretty dense.

I did try several of the Quest bars and although they tasted "okay"...they are SUPER dense and chewy. I really wanted to love them....

I'm so sick of regular Protein Bars. And i still can't stomach the shakes.... But i discovered luna bars and i've fallen in love with them. But it does contain some sugar (brown rice syrup). They're organic, and have around 12 grams of Protein. They do make protein luna bars, but i haven't seen them up in these parts yet...

I received the Quest bars today that I just ordered Sunday night! I guess they come from a city not far from me. I got two different sample packs and have tried the Lemon Pie one. It was so good! So good bye to Protein Drinks and hello to these Quest bars!

I have some Oh Yeah bars that I could send you. I ordered two boxes. And while they are good I just don't like the texture. They get great reviews though. If you're interested message me:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
