March Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 3/2/12. I lost 15 lbs prior to surgery & I'm down 70lbs total in 5 months. I feel great.

No aches & pains in legs & feet anymore.

I don't get out of breath taking the stairs.

Fit in airplane seat great and seatbelt is "no problem".

Went to Disneyland with my son last week and was able to go on any/all rides..."no problem".

Gave away all my 3XL shirts

Waist size on my pants are down by 7 sizes

Did the Warrior Dash 5K a couple weeks ago..."no problem"

I've experienced a 2 different stalls on my journey...."don't sweat the stall..."

I actually enjoy running...which is a shocker to me. (I don't run a lot...but I don't hate it like I thought I would).

New complements every day.

Best decision in my life.

I am not sure where this is going to post as this is the first time I have done an entry. My surgery was done march 27 2012 and I have only lost 45 pounds. Everyone says don't worry about a stall but I have stalled for 2 months and I am very very frustrated. I too have decreased in pant and shirt sizes and feel wonderful but this stall is really frustrating. Texas summers with triple digits makes it difficult to go outside for a walk. I do walk more than I used to and feel good about it but the exercise is still a struggle I keep finding excuses. If anyone and I'm sure there are many are willing to provide some support and some direction I would love to hear from you.

I live in Texas too bought some Zumba DVDs I do in front of my tv in the air conditioner or I'll go to the gym or ride my bike at night (8-9). It's working well for me, but you have to find something you enjoy so you'll stick with it and look forward to doing it. I absolutely love Zumba and I believe it has transformed my weight loss. I was losing an average of 8 lbs per month for the 1st 3 months and these last 2 months I've lost 15 lbs each month. Incidentally this is also when I started Zumbaing. It burns an incredible amount of calories. Check it out: zumbacalories.com. Everyone is different, but when you find something you love, things start to click. On another note, I also log every calorie (on myfitnesspal) that goes into my mouth and have been doing so (also) for 2 months so it could be a combination of both activities that has helped me achieve some better weight loss. Good luck in your fitness search.

Congratulations Aspiring Evangelist on your success!

My weight loss started exactly three years ago, when I weighed 282 pounds. After hitting a plateau the did not seem to want to budge, I had surgery. On March 1st, surgery day, I was 252 pounds and as of yesterday, I am 209 pounds. I have always been a slow loser and it looks like this will be not different, but for me this is fast and very exciting as I am averaging 1 pound a week consistently. I still have to pinch myself!!! For exercise, I do resistance/pilates twice a week and walk three days. Sometimes I miss the walking and I am on the lazy side, but my secret is getting an exercise partner to help me become accountable.

You all are a big part of the success too as I am constantly encouraged by your posts!

I had surgery on March 3rd, started doctor's program at 320, surgery at 290 and today 210. Sooooo very happy. Started at 24/26 and now I am 14-16 depending on cut. No issues, I can eat pretty much everything except jalapeños. 5'6" tall. Glad to hear other's sauces stories!

I forgot to put my own stats:

Pre-op weight: 243.6

Surgery date: 3/13/12

Surgery weight: 231.6

Current weight: 166.6

Goal weight is: 135

Height is: 5'5"

Went from a size 20 to 10's and some 8's. Training for a half marathon and also doing 3 Zumba classes a week. I wish I had done this years ago.

Thought I'd update since I haven't been on here for a good while. Very happy with my success. Right now I seem to be at a slight bump in the road, having really bad acid which is causing vomiting.. So it's been very hard to eat and I've gone back to the first stages of just Soups and really soft foods. Also have an endoscopy this week so everything sould be cleared up soon. Besides that I feel pretty amazing and have lost about 120lbs since my journey started in the beginning of march. I really never remember being this small.

Pre-op 328lbs

Surgery (march30) - 308lbs

Current weight - 212lbs

Height - 5'9

I was busting out of a 24 size pants and wearing 3x tops when I first started.. I'm now in a size 14/16 pants and can wear a L/XL shirt.

Best Choice I ever made for myself.

Very proud of all of our successes!! Great job everyone!

Ps. I can't explain how awesome it is to cross my legs like a lady!!! I sometimes do it while I'm driving just because I can! Haha.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
