Back Home And Adjusting

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I want to thank you for all the comments and prayers. So surgery went very well. The Dr was super impressed with how small my stomach was (yes I passed the prediet check). However, after surgery was a dofferwnt story. I was sleeved on Thursday morning and now back home (Sunday) and happy. But I must say those were some tough days in the hospital. They kept me because I could not keep anything down. My Nausia was super horrible and medications did not seem to work. I really turned a corner this morning and have not had the sensation to puke (thank goodness) but I am also not hungry at all. I do have really bad gas pains and seems to be getting better. Any suggestions on how to make sure I am getting enough full liquids in? I really want to do well but drinking anything makes me feel like I have heartburn and gas pain. Oh well I guess this is just the beginning and cannot wait for this to be over! I happy to join you all on the losers bench!! Good luck to everyone this week!

Welcome to the loser's bench!! :) I'm sorry you've had a rough week, but it sounds like you are moving forward. Just keep trying to sip and worry about Protein Drinks after you're able to get some Water in you. Walk a lot to help with the gas and it will help you recover quickly! :)

Sorry you ahd that experience with the nausea. Your doctor should be anle to precribe an acid reducer for you. Hope you are feeling much better soon!

Congrats. Sorry you have a rough start. Hang in there it gets better. I couldn't get Water down but could other liquids like ice tea so try different things. I need to do better with Protein but I'm also never hungry. Heal quickly.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
