I was taking all my pills whole the 3 rd day after surgery. The only one I had to cut in half a week later was a Calcium when Istarted taking the.

You should be just fine to take them whole.

Thanks guys,,, I think the worst one is B1-capsules (PURE NASTY)... There is a lot of powder in those little suckers... I have to take a med (forgot the name) for 6 months to prevent gallstones because I still have my gallbladder and want to swallow those too... I have calcium chews but I have to eat six a day to get the amount I need, I would much rather SWALLOW two pills LOL. Im gonna try the smallest med I have... Hopefully it goes down well. (Fingers crossed)

Depends how big they are. If they are capsules then it is hard for your stomach to absorb the outer shell so you do have to put in something. I agree it tastes nasty!!

I was discharged from the hospital 1/25 and had surgery on 1/23... I never experienced trouble swallowing pills. I was actually swallowing pills whole on the 24th. Even now I can take my pills back to back and don't have a problem and my pills range in many different sizes. None of them small :(

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
