Weight Loss Stall -- Need Help

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was sleeved on Aug. 30, 2011 and so far I've only lost 45lbs. I can't seem to keep any healthy food down like lean Protein and veggie. However, I can keep foods that aren't good for me like 100 calorie Snacks and chips down. I'm so pissed by this because I really make an effort to prepare healthy food but it come right back up after eating just a few scoops.

I'm thinking about starting over with liquids then puree and slowly try semi-solid foods again. I can honestly say I'm not working out as much I need to be so I'm going to get back on track with that. I really can't believe I went through all of that pain and still have pain regularly and to only have lost 45 pounds. I'm completely on soy based products because I can no longer tolerate lactose. This is very depressing and I could really use some advice.

I know I have some new problems like drinking my calories such as orange juice and plum juice because it helps me with my irregularity. I'm thinking that it might be best to just replace those juices with the calorie free stuff and just add Miralax to my tea to help with my digestion system. I'm now keeping track of my calories. I stay under 1,000 calories per day sometimes I don't even make it to 500 calories depending on the day.

Any advice anyone can give me would be very helpful.

Kind regards,

Coco Kitty

:( that your struggling with eating healthy lean Proteins and stuff. I like that your going to go back to basics of a liquid diet and progress through the steps. I would keep all the carbs very low so that your body will start to burn fat. Make sure you are exercising because you want to burn fat not muscle. Your body needs a rest right now. I'm having the same problem with not losing. I lost 7 lbs and then gained it back in a couple of days without much change in diet except I added a little more carb. So I bought a book called "The Metabolism Miracle." It makes alot of sense and so I am giving that a try. Part l of this diet is a low carb diet where we let our pancreas rest where it doesn't have to put out insulin when i eat sugar. I will let everyone know how this works. It might be a stall your having, but maybe you body is loosing in inches. That's even better. ;)

Sounds like you already have a GREAT plan for kickstarting! Start over on the stages and get your butt exercising! :) Good luck!

I notice if I don't get the Protein in I stall. Also I noticed when I stopped Vitamins for a couple of weeks I stalled. The Protein is what makes me feel full and not snack on bad stuff.

When you get the nibbles try string cheese, baby bel cheese, walnuts, pecans, a piece of rotissery chicken with cream cheese spread on it.....etc....eat something good!!!

It is not about eating less (well with the sleeve you will anyway) but about eating the RIGHT things.

Good luck!!! I know how a stall feels.....I was stuck in one for two months and it just started to move again.

I was sleeved August 30, 2011 as well. I'm having wierd weight loss issues. I'll got about 10 days with no loss, then whoosh 5 pounds off. Last time that happened, I dropped 10 pounds overnight and it stayed off! I still don't understand that one. But, then I didn't lose an ounce for three weeks and, in fact, bounced up and down 2-3 pounds during that time.

juice is HORRIBLE for us right now. It's basically pure sugar and doesnt really have enough Fiber content to keep us regular.

I think you're right on track to start over with Clear Liquids, but you might try Lil Miss Diva's Boot Camp. It's a great way to reset your metabolism and I've already dropped 3 pounds in 3 days. Pure Protein and green veggies only for 5 days, then back to strict sleeve rules on food. Are you getting in all your Water?

Oh, and if you started at a lower BMI, you might not lose as fast as others. Besides, "only" 45 pounds? That's FANTASTIC in 5 months. How much could you have lost on your own in 5 months without surgery?

Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sorry for the delayed response. I finally lost another 5lbs so I feel better about my overall weight loss of 50lbs. I have a hard time keeping meat and veggies down so I'm going to stay away from it. Also, my snacking is off limits completely. I'm back to the beginning of plan and although its hard its worth it to get back on track. Thanks again for all of the encouragement.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
