Felt something weird today...did I feel my band slip? Please tell me your experiences

Recommended Posts

I am really concerned. It has been QUITE awhile since i've PB'd. Well I was in the restroom today and coughed and could have sworn I felt something odd. Can that happen? Can anyone tell me what a slipped band feels like. Are you DEFINATLY aware of it?

Thanks

I have not had a slipped band, but I know of lots of people who were not aware that they had slipped their band. There are people who find they can eat more, and go in for a fill and the flouro shows it has moved, or people who suddenly have too much restriction, and find the same thing.

Had you eaten recently? I often times feel food move down past my band, could that have been it?

I have and I haven't had any problems, though I haven't over done it either. Ugh I don't know. Thank you for your response though. :bananapartyhat: I think i'll call tomorrow and get the docs advice.

My band slipped but it wasn't during a PB and I didn't feel it. My first symptom was severe reflux at night followed a few days later by constant stomach pain. Check with your doctor to be sure of course, but if you can keep food down fine and have no pain or reflux you are probably fine. It's always a good idea to stick with liquids for a few days after a PB to let your stomach have a break.

According to my dr...if you start having reflux (where you didn't before) and/or you find you cannot eat, then you are likely to have a slip.

Also...if you suddenly feel like you've lost ALL restriction, usually accompanies by reflux, then that's also a sign.

I think probably you might have tugged at your stitches at your port, but things are fine. Just go easy for a couple days.

Thank you for your input. I have tested myself so to speak and my stomach feels *strained* maybe but I still have restriction like I've been used to. Nonetheless I called the doc and have a wednesday appt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
