Time Of The Month *ladies, Please Read*

Recommended Posts

Okay ladies,

I'm exactly 2 weeks out of surgery and i'm trying to weigh myself at least 3 times a week. I got my period about 2 days ago but it's very light for now. I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 2 lbs!!!

The same rules still apply, right? I'm talking about the weight we gain while we are on it due to bloating and Water retention.

I just feel like crap cuz it's only been 2 weeks and i gained!!! :( I know you probably think i'm being dumb, but i really do feel discouraged. :(

You are bloated when your period comes, it happened to me,I tend to gain a pound or two,so far in these 2 months happened to me twice, don't worry you will lose them again, specially if you are walking a little, but no rush you still in recovery.

Your body is still going to go throught the same cycles as it did pre-WLS. The bounce in weight due to your cycle is normal. Do some reading of previous threads (the search feature is handy) that talk about this, and you will find you aren't alone. Every woman on here can tell you how her menstrual cycle affects her weight loss journey. It will take you a few months to identify yours.

Try not to let this get you down. You are in a life-long race here. Don't let one bad step onto the scale, or a routine swing in weight depress you - it is only a tiny blip on the road to success.

Good Luck.

Sharon

I am 1 week post op and waiting for Auntie Flo to show! My cycle has been a little irratic - days early or days late so who knows! I stepped on the scale today and had only lost 1/2 lb, so here's hoping she due any day!

If you had PMS, bloating & weight gain before surgery, you will still have it after surgery. Relax. It's all a part of the process. In a few months you will have something to compare this against. Blessings2u--BJ

I also had my period on week 2. I gained a few lbs right before it started and by the time it was over, I still had a 3 lb loss for the week. Just be patient. It will drop. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
