It's Girl Scout Cookie Season....aaarrrrgggghhh!

Recommended Posts

If you like most people who support the Girl Scouts you could always buy the Cookies from friends or family and then take them to your local food pantry and donate them. That way you are helping the Girl Scouts, those less fortunate and yourself as they will not be sitting in your kitchen calling our your name in the evenings.

Andy brings up a good point. Another new option this year was to donate instead of actually purchasing Cookies.

Hey Andy, I thought you were from Altoona or Fredricksburg, although Altoona isn't that far from Des Moines ...

Stop with the GG Cookies. LOL I have a box sitting on my kitchen counter and I'm going to be throwing them out! No one in my family needs to be eating that crap. I would rather just give a donation to the girls selling than to be tempted by them. Sorry for being Debbie Downer here, but now I'm thinking I should go get a piece of candy in the waiting room because tomorrow I will be starting my feb bootcamp! ugggggggg......... I really need to work on this.

If you have the discipline to freeze them, you can use frozen Cookies to make either ice cream or frozen yogurt in the summer.

I made Cookies at Christmas and those that weren't eaten (since I had surgery on 12/20 and my husband got tired of eating and taking to work) I froze in Foodsaver bags. I will make cookie ice cream during summer break when there are kids to eat it up!

Luckily I'm not too much of a sweets person. I ordered a few boxes of Cookies - I like the Thin Mints but I can stop after one or two. They are good right out of the freezer . . . .

Let's see. I'll attach two boxes of Thin Mints to my sagging belly, a box each of Samoas to my batwings, one box each of Tagalongs to each butt-cheek, and four boxes of Peanut Butter sandwiches to my still-rubbing-together thighs. There! Isn't THAT a delightful image? Ain't worth it, not one bit.

I have several friends with daughters who hit me up to get my GS cookie fix. This year, I wrote a nice little check for several boxes of Cookies and told her to send them to the food pantry or donate them to another family ! ! ! It's a win win for me. I get to support my friend's daughter and don't have to have those sinful goodies in my house! ! !

I"ve asked my family not to bring any in the house, to please keep them in their cars or their office. They are addictive little devil Cookies. I'm afraid to start and go on a downward sprial. We can use this site to get the carb and calorie count. I think if I know what I'm eating it will help me to stop. I know the sleeve will not let me eat a box at a time, like I used to, but Thin Mints (my fav) are 22 carbs for 4.. and I'm sure I eat more then 4 in one day.

Good luck.. Good news is, they only come once a year.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
