Okay, This Isn't Funny

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting in my cubicle just after lunch and my stomach is gurgling like a monster - I mean LOUD. Some are gurgles and some sould like burps. I just tried cucumber for the first time. Think that might be it? It doesn't feel bad - just weird ... and embarrassing. Oh wait. It just stopped. WOW! Testing with another bite. Yes, it is indeed the cucumber.

So I guess I'm on the dreaded stall too. All this and the first day back to work. I hate my scale.

I guess I should be pleased. There have not been any real issues since the day of surgery. It is just realing pleasing to see the numbers drop.

Gurgle rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeee rrrrrrrrrrrugggggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!

I think my sleeve could provide the sound effects for a movie all about plumbing. It has calmed down some as the months pass. Certain foods (cucumber does it for me, too) stimulate it to perform even more than usual.

GASX strips help mine calm down.

Shoot, cucumber does that on a normal stomach!

Cucumbers are known to produce gases, unless you get the english burpless ones. Try removing the seeds and see if that works. I think it is the seeds that are the gas producers.

I think I'm going to trade cucumbers for ... hell, I don't know. That was just a ridiculous performance. Carrots are a little on the starch side. Celery has those strings ... I like my broccoli cooked. Maybe little pieces of romaine lettuce.

Celery is fine if you peel the strings off. Just take a pairing knife to the outside ribbing. Try sweet peas. I do well with those, same with cold grilled red peppers ( love em cooked- yucky raw : ).

Oh, yes, my tummy lets the world know EXACTLY how it's feeling and what it's doing -- from being very hungry to working extra hard at digesting what I just ate. It is what it is, I guess!

Sweetie;

My surgeon suggested NO RAW VEGGIES for first six months as your new tummy is still healing. Obviously your stomach is rebelling and you have figured out that it does not like cucumbers.

Good lesson and now you know. Keep up the great weight loss!

Six months is the accepted healing point for the sleeve. I won't try that agin for a while! Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
