Wooooo Hoooo!

I loved your NSV's.....Not that I exactly know what that means....Non ___________ Victories? They inspired me.

Especially the one about being able to cross your legs. That will be a BIG deal for me on the day it happens. It's been years since I've been able to do that.

Happy Anniversary, Mandy!

The first pic was taken preband, Oct 2005, I was banded July 2005. The second picture was taken, Oct 2005, 10 weeks post-op. The 3rd was taken in March of this year, 7.5 months post-op. The 4th and 5 were taken today, have to excuse the way I look I had surgery on my foot this morning so my hair and make-up was the last thing on my mind today. But I wanted to document my 1 year with pictures. I hope my success inspires others to get banded or work with the band they have. ~Mandy

excuse the leopard pants, they make my butt look bigger than it really is, but they are cute and flannel. I bought them for $1 at my favorite resale shop, they are mediums.....woohoo. I will try for better pictures later in the week when I feel like wearing regular pants and when I can get my regular pants or shorts over my my compression bandage. ~Mandy

You are looking more like Tinkerbelle everyday!

I guess you have had your PS? Is that what the compression bandage is for?

My gosh, you look just fantastic!

Cindy, I wish it was PS. I had to have plantar fasciitis repaired. There is a compression bandage to help with swelling and bleeding, I am in it until at least monday, possibly as long as next friday. It sucks it's bigger than a softball and I can't get it wet, so I have a cast wrap so I can shower. I also have to be careful not to pop my stitches, I did that last time, 2 years ago and it was a long healing process. I will try to take the pictures of me in my shorts that I wore home from the hospital when I was banded, tomorrow. I am off to bed, ~Mandy

Wow I'm glad I saw this thread!

Mandy, sweetie, I tell you what... Over this past year, you have come thru some of the most stressful times a mother could ever imagine. Thru it all, you remained a friend and encouragement for others.. AND you continued to stay focused on your goals. And look at you now! Your pics from the last trip to the Magic Kingdom showed us a healthy, vibrant, happy, and beautiful woman. A true testimony to your character and determination. I'm very proud of you and extremely happy for ya!

Happy Bandiversary!

*big hugs*

Susan, thanks for the very kind words. This year has been full of ups and downs, but everything happens for a reason. I am sure that there is a greater plan in place, just not sure what it is just yet. Abigale goes for her complete psych eval in a few weeks, that will tell us a ton we hope. I will keep everyone posted on her progress. As for staying focused, I have to say that my surgeon was huge in that. He is the best cheerleader ever, he called to check in on me and Abigale several times this year. He always says that even if I am maintaining I am winning with everything going on in our lives right now. He is impressed that I am losing and staying focused. I am the luckiest person in the world, I have a great family here at LBT, my reallife family and my doctor all totally supporting me. That makes it easy to stay focused. ~Mandy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
