Gayle 9 Posted January 30, 2012 I am 10 months out and down 120 pounds with another 100 to go. For over a month now I haven't been losing weight and I have been trying so many things. On average I get between 30-100 g carbs a day (on the lower side majority of the time, including fiber) and like 20-30 grams of fat and 60+ g of Protein. I even am trying taking alli even though I don't eat much fat. I exercise and get 7 thousand steps a day and 4 flights of stairs at minimum. I get all my liquids in and eat between 800-1000 calories. I have even tried calorie cycling by going up to 1500 and then back down to 800 but even though I lost some doing that it didn't last. I am at the end of my rope and need some help or advice or anything! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
UXgrrl 29 Posted January 30, 2012 First of all, Congratulations on the 120 lb loss! That's absolutely amazing! You must have already noticed a big difference with being over halfway to your goal. With regards to your stall, you sound like you're doing everything right, so I guess the next thing is to check with your nutritionist or a dietician and see what s/he has to say. Have you gotten your body fat % checked? Is that going down? Any other non-scale measurements changing? Maybe your body is at a resting point for the time being. I don't know about other people, but I'm finding as I go down, my body wants to "stick" at points that I've spent a lot of time at in the past. Maybe this is something you really just have to wait out. I know other people have written about stalling for months and months at a time. Please don't take offense, but Is revising the sleeve to another kind of WLS an option for you or something you'd be willing to consider? Gayle 9 Posted January 30, 2012 Yes, I have thought about revising but my insurance only pays for one wls in my lifetime so that's not an option. And I was supposed to be at 40 carbs when I first started out, and it goes up from there. LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted January 30, 2012 Gayle, IMO I think what you really need to do is reflect here. You have lost ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY POUNDS in TEN MONTHS!!! That's incredible. You have no reason to be sad or down on yourself at all. Your body is resting at the moment. Just keep doing what you're doing. If you there is anything you can change up, perhaps it's your workout routine. Your body might be ready for more intense cardio, and more toning to build more muscle. Get that heart rate up higher, sweat more and for longer periods. You will start losing again. If you don't, you can come back here and tell me I'm wrong. However, I doubt you will - because it will happen. Good luck, and remember this: the journey is what you make it. Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted January 30, 2012 Hey, keep up the good work. IT is frustrating when your body is in a stall. But you have lost 120lbs and I imagine that is quite a shock for your body. Time to shake it up a bit and switch up your exercise routine. Mean while, take some time and look at how beautiful the world is and play. Life is what we make of it! CONGRATS! jhope 11 Posted January 30, 2012 Hey, everything everyone else said, and ....I have been reading about coconut oil, that it can take a stalled low carb diet, and make it pick back up again.. wallmart sells it, and both forms of it. The cooking kind, called Lu Anna, by the oils, and in the vitimen dept. Trust me when I say, you are not alone with your stall, I have had very long stalls!! I have to stop weighing, because it's such a mind game. But the fact is, you have done an amazing job at losing weight, 120 lbs in 10 months is freaking phenomenal!! It may indeed be slowing down for you, because as we get closer and closer to goal, it does sometimes slow down. But you are not done by any means. You might want to change things up to shake up your metabolism like increasing exercise, lowering carbs but not calories, etc. I am actually going to lower my carbs and not eat any kind of wheat to see if that helps me. I'm reading the book "wheat belly" and it's very eye-opening. Some of us are more sensitive to bread, crackers, etc. You may need to increase your Protein? I know it's difficult not to, but don't worry about it too much, stress increases cortisol which promotes weight gain, especially in the abdomen. Isn't it possible that although the scale is not changing, you could be building some muscle and therefore not seeing the "loss"? I would take your measurements. I have heard of people losing inches, LOTS OF INCHES and the scale not changing. I would measure, and start fresh. Don't let your PERCEIVED "lack of loss" mess with you when you very well could be losing inches.
