Myfitnesspal Questions

Recommended Posts

I have a couple questions about myfitmesspal that I can't figure out. First, is there a way to add something to you diary with number of calories rather than selecting, for example, one banana, if you only have 1/2 banana, or if you only have 2 oz. of smething instead of defaulting to a selection of 4 oz? And second, is there a way to set your calorie goal for the day yourself? Mine defaults to 1,340 per day and I can't find how to set it lower. Otherwise I love the site. It makes it so easy to keep track! Thanks in advance if you can help me!

I usually just use decimals. For example if the only choice is 1/2 cup I choose that one and under serving I put .5 so it halves it if I only had 1/4. Works for everything. You can go to goals and change the calories manually but depending on how far out from surgery you are it might be wise to stick with what they say. I'm a yr out and they set 1460 for me and i m set to lose a lb a week. It works for me. Good luck! It is a great site!

Yes you can set your goals - click on goals and at the bottom change goals, then custom and you can adjust it there. I use decimals also as for if I eat a 1/4 cup and normal serving is 1/2 cup I just do .5 also.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
