Everything I eat or drink feels like it is lodged in my throat going down. I try to chew, chew, chew and sip, sip, sip, very slowly limiting bites and sips. This is very annoying and discouraging to the point where I dont want to eat or drink anything.

Having this procedure is the hardest thing any of us have done. It does restrict our eating and it can feel like it's stuck in the beginning. It does get better and easier as time goes on. I am almost 4 months out and haven't experienced the stuck feeling since around 2 months post op. I have found myself getting discouraged because I like to go out to eat at restaurants and when I see my food, and I'm really hungry, I want to eat all of it! It's that stupid rule of eating everything on my plate! I take about 5 bites and it's like stop! My stomach is full and I can fill it. BahhhhHumbug.... Ow well, I try to remind myself that I don't need all that food anyways. Then I look at how beautiful the sleeve has helped me to shed all those unwanted lbs. What a great job my sleeve has done and is continuing to work for me. YAYYYYYY! Please remember, this is well worth the frustration of it all. Congrats! This is the hardest thing you will ever do! But you will be well compensated for it by increased life span, good health, and a fantastic looking body! Keep ROCKIN that SLEEVE! ;) :boxing_smiley:

Did they correct a hiatal hernia by chance? I had mine corrected (didn't even know I had one) and there was tightness around the top of the tummy, bottom of the esophagus, for sure. It took a few weeks to pass, but it does pass.

As I told my wife then, if I didn't HAVE to eat, I wouldn't.

Ya sure, you betcha. Just keep doing what you're doing. I know it gets tedious and frustrating, but it does get better.

I was just DYING for something crunchy to eat, but that day, too, shall come.

I think the great thing about this is that there will come a day when you can have a french fry or two....and the awesome thing is, you probably wont want more than that, because you'll have wonderful healthy habits. So, the things we love now can be splurge foods later, but the amount will be tiny and we won't do it often. Right now, I am just focusing on new, healthy habits, so that I can eat small quantitites of things I love later, with no worries or problems.

Also, wow! You've lost 45 lbs. I am hoping to be you sometime in the next couple months....

I am 6 weeks out and still hadn't lost that stuck feeling even with liquids. My doctor gave me a steriod dose pack thinking that I was swollen there and it was like a miracle. 6 days later the stuck feeling was gone. I actually feel normal again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
