My Gastric Sleeve Journey

Recommended Posts

I started my sleeve journey in July 2011. That is when I started my classes with my insurance provider. I had my first appointment w/ my surgeon, Dr. Suh, in December 2011. I just had my surgery in January 23, 2012. At first I was wondering what the hell have I done to myself, but now I am glad that I stuck to my decision. I am already feeling better. I am following my 1st week diet as planned and dropping weight. My husband has been behind my decision the entire way. He has told me that I am doing this for myself and not him. Because he loves me that way I am. I did have a few friends that opposed my doing the procedure. But after having long descussions with them about why I made my decision they changed their mind. I decided to do this because I have been heavy my whole life and done the yo-yo diets since I was a teenager. I wanted to be healthy and able for my children. I never want them to have to go through what I have endured for being a heavy person. The only way to do this was to lead by examples. My daughter is a junk food junky at 4 yrs old. So I have to set the example of how to eat better food. My son at 6 already has made better eating choices then I did when I was 6. I am so happy to be losing weight and knowing that I have the knowledge and discipline to keep it off.

Good job in being successful with your decision. I was sleeved a few days before and at first asked myself "what have I done'... but it is done and we must move forward.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
