xenophile 9 Posted January 28, 2012 Hi folks! Today is my 1-month surgiversary/sleeviversary/whatever, and I've decided to start the Couch to 5K program this week. I've just registered for a 5K on April 29th, so that gives me 13 weeks to get ready. (The program is set up for 9 weeks, but I'm giving myself a few weeks' cushion so I can start off slowly.) Does anyone out there want to do the program with me? The schedule is outlined here: http://www.coolrunni...2/2_3/181.shtml There are podcasts and additional resources here: http://www.c25k.com/ I just got the iPhone app, which was $2.99. It's pretty awesome. The most useful feature is the verbal cues to switch from walking to jogging, and vice versa. You can listen to music at the same time, which was important to me--I get bored really, really easily when I try to exercise without my music. If you're looking for a 5K, Active.com is a great resource. Here are their listings (which you can narrow by zip code, etc.): http://search.active...channel=Running Sooooooooo, who's with me? :behindsofa: :party4:
rescuefish 1 Posted January 28, 2012 I'm 4 weeks post-op as of yesterday. I haven't commited to a 5k yet, but I'm on week 2 day 2 of c25k. I tried to do it over a year ago to loose weight when I was pushing 300 lbs and had knee problems. It's amazing how much easier it is now. Good luck!! 1 xenophile reacted to this
cludgie 81 Posted January 30, 2012 Well, I'm such an avid avoider of exercise, I've waited until I got to goal to commit to more activity, however it is my new commitment, and I did day 1 of c25k today, using the NHS podcasts, which are great! I've committed to a 5k in june, and have been asked to do a 12k assault course called survival of the fittest in october! eek!!! 1 xenophile reacted to this

xenophile 9 Posted February 3, 2012 I have played w application and its awesome..when r u starting Hey bubbly. I had planned to start the program this week, but my body wasn't having it. I've been doing 20 min on a stationary bike this week, which feels ok. I'm planning to keep cycling for another week, then start the C25K program on 2/13. My three C25K days will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a yoga or Wii Fit day on Saturday or Sunday. When were you thinking of starting?

OilSooner 23 Posted March 4, 2012 I have found that while I really like lifting weights, running is an acquired taste for me. Still, my ultimate fitness goal is to complete a triathlon, so I have to keep with it. The journey continues....
Indymom 132 Posted March 7, 2012 I was up to week 6 or 7 last fall, and then got really sick for a couple months. Once I was recovered the weather was COLD - and I realized quickly I didn't like running on the treadmill or indoor track - so I stuck to fitness classes at the gym all winter. Now that the weather is improving I decided to restart C25K, so I went back to the beginning and did week 1/day 1 today. Wasn't too bad! I am going to look for a 5K to register for at the end of May, I think that should give me enough time to prepare. WOOT!

rescuefish 1 Posted March 14, 2012 After dealing with patellar tendinitis for the past month ( which kept me from running), I finally restarted c25k today with no knee pain. Sucked being unable to run, but it was sort of refreshing to deal with a "sports injury" again instead of general poor health.
