RiahG 0 Posted October 29, 2007 :clap2: I got my insurance approval. I guess it paid off to be so viligent about all those appointments. I was very worried because Dr. Srikanth said that they are very picky about the weight history... My BMI has varied between 38 1/2 and 43 over the last 5 years. Because I don't have any co-morbidities (yet) he was concerned that the borderline years would cause a denial. What totally sucks is those years are the ones where I worked my butt off -literally- to lose weight. Anyway, I AM APPROVED!!!! I tentatively scheduled for Dec 5 but I am supposed to hear today whether or not he opened up Nov 20 for surgery. That would be a preferred date. It is still not real yet. Even though I truly understand the implications on my eating and daily life, I can't even fathom the emotional changes to come.

Chelseylyn 0 Posted October 30, 2007 Chelsey...Congrats, hope your recovery is speedy. The first couple weeks can drag, but you'll turn the corner quickly, just don't push it, give yourself some time to heal. I'm a huge believer in support groups...are you involved in one? Sue Hi Sue, No i am not involved in one, i live out in north bend and work in Bothell, so its really hard for me to get to the one they offer at St. Francis. I love this forum though, everytime i have a question or a little scare about a pain, (like yesterday i had a stabbing pain in my neck and shoulder) I come on here and find the answer!! sue11 0 Posted October 31, 2007 I had the sholder/neck pain too, and have to say it was by far the worse pain I felt through the entire recovery. Good news is it will pass, it's the gas (diaphram pain is refered to the sholder)
sue11 0 Posted October 31, 2007 I woke up feeling so cruddy this morning (just a cold), but really got a lift when I stepped on the scale (200). Just one more pound to my Thanksgiving goal! Now I have to decide on my next goal, I think it will be BMI < 30, but I'm not sure where to set my date, the holidays are coming, then we're going on a cruise mid January. singandsew 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hey Girls, We are looking into new health insurance. Who do you all recommend. Who actually covers this surgery....for, like, if I can ever get my husband to do it..... Mer
sue11 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Mer... It's so hard to know. Even if your plan covers it (as ours did) the employer decides on the exclusions for the plan...the more exclusions the lower the rates. Ours excluded any weight loss treatments. Are you self insured?
singandsew 0 Posted November 3, 2007 Hi Sue, Yes, we are self-insured. We have been using the plan through costco. As it is, we pay almost $1000 a month for Dave, me and our son....argh. I've looked around and it seems we will be about that price for whatever we choose (including dental). So....yikes. Just wanted to find one that had the specific things we want....
