Has anyone been banded at the Puget Sound Weight Loss Center? It is in Edmonds, with a satellite office in Bellingham. I attended one of their seminars and it seems their after care is quite extensive.

Dawneb- congratulations on onederland! I've got to get off this plateau and start moving again in color.gifthat direction.

I spent my morning at the hospital emergency room. Seems I pulled the tendon on my right shoulder moving all that heavy furniture and boxes for my son. My arm is in a sling and I'm on pain meds and muscle relaxers. If it's not calmed downed in a few days then they will shoot it with cortizone. This is hard to type one handed with the left hand!

Wenjea,

thanks for the encouragement. Sounds like you need some yourself what with your arm and all. I hope that you are feeling better soon. what a great mom you are!!

Now relax and take it easy so that shoulder can heal.

St Joe's support group is at 6:45. Go to the front entrance (free valet) then follow signs (downstairs) to the cafeteria. It's the last door on your left before you enter the cafeteria. Why they have to out us right next to the cafeteria I simply don't understand! Even hospital food smelled good when I was on liquids!

I have to say that lately I've been pleased with the lack of craving for starches. I'm at work and decided to have one a "lien cuisine" that I keep in the freezer (keeps me from running out for fast food). I thought I'd treat myself to a Pasta dish (I usually get meat & veggie dishes). The Pasta is OK, but really can't say it adds anything special to the meal, I think I like my meat & veggies better. I truly enjoy the "fillings" that go on the pasta or in the bread better than the pasta/bread itself :car: But I do still miss the salty foods! I try to keep it to a few nuts to stay away from those chips I love!

Hey Sue, I will see you there! Probably bring my yummy diet green tea! I definitely need to get out. I've spent the last 10 hours editing a workbook for a seminar my husband is giving next saturday.....on selling automotive work for auto shops. With the dogs whining at me a good amount of the time. Kill me now! I NEEEEEEEED to get out!

Good morning,

How was the meeting Monday night? I really wanted to make it but I just didn't feel that great. I really love going to the meetings. They seem to re-affirm what I'm doing and can help get me motivated again.

I hope that everyone is doing well. It sure would be nice if we could have some summer weather again. Maybe we'll have a great September.

Hi there! I'm actually typing with both hands now. As long as I don't move my elbow away from my side it doesn't hurt much. I went to see the PT yesterday and she has me doing exercises for my shoulder. I see the shoulder guy doctor man on Thursday morning to make sure nothing to serious is going on. The pain is much better now as long as I don't lift my elbow away from my body. I slept through the whole night last night which was a first.

I need to start walking again also so please someone, kick me in the behind!

I am officially in month 2 of PreOp Trying To Get My Darned Insurance To Approve Surgery Diet. It must be working because when the dietician weighed me this morning I have lost 6 pounds in 4 weeks. Yay!

I am still feeling bogged down with all the recording I have to do for all the providers that I am required to see for the (possible) insurance approval but I am trying to stay positive. The bright side is that I am exploring healthier options and have enjoyed some surprisingly tasty meals that I may not have otherwise tried! :clap2:

I am very proud of Dawneb because she is the talk of our workplace with her amazing transformation! It is very inspiring because I know that the Band is right for me and sooner or later it will happen. I just need to be patient and see if it will be sooner (hopefully)!;)

Dawn...

Meeting was good, Laura was back, lots of talk on protien, carbs, diet and the variability of different doctor's instructions. Helps me to gather information on what's right for ME and encouragement and motivation to succeed ;)

I hit 50# this AM...time for a treat, maybe a new shirt or a SF NF Decaf Starbucks (pricey colored water)

Last couple of days I decided to get a couple new pairs of pants. I have to put on 2-3 pairs each morning to find one that will fit, then 1/2 way through the day that pair is hanging. I had to go to the regular women's department!!! I actually had to stop myself from gravitating to the Plus department...those clothes don't fit!!!

NSV...My DH (160# soaking wet) sat down on the edge of the bed last night and the side rail (oak) broke (I couldn't help it, I had to giggle). If it would have been me I would be sure it was my fat old butt, I would have felt soooo defeated...but it wasn't me!!! :whoo: LOL LOL LOL

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
