Have to agree...EAS...tried it once...ONCE...Yuck!!!

Champion Nutrition whey chocolate is so tasty I look forward to it and my kids drink it, though the vanilla is nasty (know quite a few people who agree).

There are some places (Vitalady in Puyallup is one) that will let you trymany brands to see what you like. The protien drinks are very different from a slimfast drink. Keep trying.

4 more days and I hope I will have an answer to my "broken" band...I have mixed feelings about Thanksgiving with no band, the adict in me is cheering, but the goal orientated me wants my restriction back. I sure can't do this on my own...up 15 now!!!

sue for a hot drink i would get some sugar free apple cider and mix in the champion vanilla in with that . it is a good hot drink.

I have been battle'g with my sweets this month. had to much cake this month...I still lost 5 pounds but i know it was a pound or two more before the cake. what does everyone else do to battle the sweet craving. i have some sugar free candy i suck on sometimes.

ok everyone has been so quiet past couple months. Myself included. how is everyone doing?

I just got another .5cc fill, am up to 5.5 now in my band and can for the first time only eat like 3-4 oz of food at a time. It is a strange feeling. also have to eat slow and really make sure i chew everything now. Shall see if it boost my weight loss in the next month or so, or if i stay with my steady 4-5 pounds a month.

YES, it HAS been quiet here for a LONG time!

Good to hear from someone!

I'm doing great.... slow but steady progress.

I reached the 100 lb mark just before Christmas but have been stalled ever since. But that's been typical for me so I just keep plugging along. I gained a few lb over Christmas, then lost it, then another gain!

We are in southern CA for the winter, but I'm coming home for a few days in Feb and plan to make an appointment to get a fill while I'm there. Will do it early in the week to make sure I"m not too tight before I leave again.

congrats on making the 100lb mark!!! i cant wait until i do. Im hoping it will be just a couple more months. On the upside i have gone from a size 28 pants down to a size 18 now. another 20 pounds and i will have to start buying some pants. I havent been under a size 18 probably since i was in middle school. I wish the weather would warm up. it has been to cold for me to take my morning walks with my dog this past month and i still haent been able to get myself to walk into the gym. i do use the elipitcal for a bit at work.

Hi Guys,

Well, I had my fill 1/20 and am doing so good it almost scares me. No gas, no naseua, hardly any pain. Of course the hospital was what I expected but it's really gone well. What is bugging me, is Dr Oh said ONLY liq for two weeks. broth and Jello that's it. I'm really feeling weak. I go for my first check up tomorrow but I have to have a Protein drink today... I'm down 26lbs including my preop diet.

yeah liquid diet sucks. i felt really weak on liquids. I felt a little better on mushies. Up side is while you are on liquids you will probably drop a good chunck of weight. My doc only does 1 week liquids/1 week mushies then on to real food.< /p>

Hi Kate, I was living in Ferndale when I had my band put in. I had it done in Mexico though and no problems with that other than not having a fill doc locally. Now there is Northwest fill center in Arlington, Wa. I went to them before I moved to Ca. this last May after living in Bellingham-Ferndale for over twenty years. They are very affordable and friendly. So you can rest better knowing you have local after care-fill service. I hope this helps you and any others that did not know about the fill center. Jratkell

How is everyone doing? Traveled to San Fran this past week, was glad to find that my band didnt tighten up on me from the airplane ride. I had heard that has happened to some folks. It was def interesting trying to figure out what to eat when your eating out for all meals. Had a incident or 2 where i made the wrong choice or ate to fast. It is def a lot easier when you are home or the only person eating out.

We're in SO CA for the winter but I flew home for a few days on Valentine's Day. I got a fill (very cranky P A that day who chewed me out for a number of things!), saw my dentist, checked on our condo and mostly spend time with two daughters and grandchildren (stayed with one daughter and not at the condo).

So, I said all that to say... flying was NOT a problem, even coming back just a few days after a fill. In fact, as much as I HATE to fly anymore, it was delightful NOT to have to ask for a seat belt extender, NOT to be uncomfortably squished between the arms of the seat, NOT to have the tray table resting on my stomach! I mean that sucker sat flat and level with room to spare! I kept it down the whole trip, north and south! And I had a drink to celebrate!! Complimentary on Valentine's Day!

HOWEVER, we took a road trip north this past weekend, and going through the "Grapevine" and over Tejon Pass... might be my imagination, but it sure seemed like my band tigtened up. Especially coming home. We'd had Breakfast before we left for home that morning and I had a little container of salmon in the cooler for my lunch (mixed with ff cream cheese), and a FF rice pudding. But I could not eat anything all day. I ate a small amount of something when we got back to the RV that evening, but not much. I blamed it on the altitude change!

the last time i was on a plane think it was 2 years ago. i wasnt at my heavest, but prob around 60 pounds or so heavier than i am now. the seat belt just fit tightly, i couldnt put the tray down at all. this time i was able to put the tray down flat and had about a foot of the belt strap hanging out. I didnt feel like i was squishing the people next to me out of their seats. it was excite'g for me to see the changes. Oh i didnt have to walk sideways down the aisle either. my friend didnt seem to grasp my excitement though.

Hey! How is everyone???

Anyone in the NW had plastic surgery???

I don't know how much longer I can stand my ugly legs.

I'm looking for doctor recommendations.

I found one in Tijuana, and we're only about 2 hours away right now... wintering near Palm Springs.

Had an appointment for a consult tomorrow,

but DH refuses to go to Mexico!

UGH!!

Mother in law had her band done in Mexico. She is back there again today for the 3rd time. Her 1st band was placed 7/08. She had her port replaced last month. Today she is there getting a fill because the people here messed up the port and tubing that had to be replaced.

Good and bad doctors out there no matter where you go. I'd prefer to stay in the states.

I heard most doctors won't touch you until 2 years out from reaching your goal... You spend the money now and will have to do it again in another year or so.

Yes, there are good and bad out there both in the U.S. and in Mexico. So you have to do your research, which I have done. I'm 65 years old. It'll probably take me another year to get to goal. If I decide to go ahead with PS, I won't be waiting until I"m nearing 70 years old! I would like to be able to wear a bathing suit without being embarrassed about my legs. And it'd be nice to be able to wear shorts or a dress again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
